"#Water is a precious resource in #NewMexico, the state with the lowest percentage of its area covered by water. That makes how water is managed in the state incredibly important. In this episode of "Conversations Different," Deputy State Engineer Tanya Trujillo and Interstate Stream Commission Director Hannah Riseley-White share their insight on New Mexico's water management and resource planning. They discuss New Mexico's compacts with neighboring states and water issues facing New Mexico. They also talk about the Water Security Planning Act passed unanimously by the during the 2023 state legislative session, and upcoming opportunities the public has to share input on how the statute will be implemented." https://lnkd.in/eBnShNMm

#NMCA is proud to be represented at the 2024 Next Generation Water Summit. Executive Director Marco Antonio Lueras will be moderating a session alongside Mike Collignon on the topic of Why WERS? Why Now? "Communities throughout the United States are grappling with an affordable housing crisis, prompting various responses such as new construction, in-fill projects, or repurposing existing buildings. Amidst these developments, concerns about water supply persist, particularly in Western regions. With projected temperature increases and droughts over the next few decades, communities are understandably cautious about land use decisions. Join this session to gain valuable insights into comprehensive water use projections that can play a crucial role in informing growth plans and assisting builders in persuading communities to embrace growth while addressing water sustainability concerns." https://lnkd.in/eerxc-YC
