In recognition of World Mental Health Day, Newmont reflects on the vital role mental health plays in wellbeing and reaffirms our commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment. To ensure everyone has access to the care and resources they need, we have taken several steps to enhance our mental health support globally by: • Expanding our wellbeing program to more operations across the organization, providing access to wellbeing, financial, legal and referral services. • Increasing the availability of on-site and virtual counselors to provide more immediate support. • Offering in-person and virtual counseling services during critical workplace incidents. • Providing more resources and tools for navigating personal and work-related challenges. Did you know that the future of Newmont’s Red Chris mine is underground? Red Chris is an open pit copper and gold mine located about 18 kilometers southeast of the village of Iskut in northwestern British Columbia, Canada. The mine site is located within the territory of the Tahltan Nation. This week, Tom Palmer, Newmont’s President and CEO, spoke with ICMM’s President and CEO, Rohitesh Dhawan, about perspectives and experiences gained from his decades-long career in the industry during the ICMM Responsible Mining Leadership Forum.   When asked what he would say to a room filled with 18- to 25-year-olds to encourage them to consider a career in the mining industry, Tom said, “I think we probably need to be in a room with seven-, eight- and nine-year-olds because that’s where you really start to get that interest going, and that’s where you start to get a level of diversity.
