    This summer, the Royal Thai Embassy in Washington, D.C. confirmed the Kingdom of Thailand’s appointment of New Orleans native and New Orleans & Company Chief Marketing Officer Mark Romig as Thailand’s Honorary Consul in Louisiana. On October 1, 2024, Mr. Chettaphan Maksamphan, the Director-General of the Department of American and South Pacific Affairs, met with Mr. Mark Collins Romig, the newly appointed Honorary Consul of the Kingdom of Thailand in New Orleans, Louisiana, along with his partner, Mr. David Allen Briggs, during their visit to Thailand. During the meeting, the Director-General extended congratulations to Mr. Romig on his appointment as Honorary Consul. Both parties engaged in discussions focused on enhancing the role and active involvement of the Honorary Consul within the Thai community in Louisiana. They also explored opportunities for advancing Thai-U.S. relations across various sectors, with an emphasis on promoting economic and business opportunities, particularly in trade and investment, as well as strengthening collaboration in education, culture, tourism, and the film industry.
