Cybercriminals are especially good at phishing techniques. This may come in the form of an email with an attachment or link, a fake website prompting for personal information, or a pop-up that catches your attention. It can even come in the form of a voice recording. There numerous methods hackers are using these days, but you'll want to be sure to do your due diligence and check the source first. You may need to call the person your message is claiming to be from to ensure they actually sent it to you.
