🌍✨ Exciting insights from our recent Impact Allocators Masterclass in Zurich! ✨🌍 Last week, we had the privilege of welcoming nearly 80 allocators from the European impact investing community at the UBS St. Peter Forum in Zurich, in partnership with the SDG Impact Finance Initiative and The Global Impact Investing Network. This allocator-only event led to transformative conversations about our collective impact investing journeys and the opportunities ahead as we navigate the complexities of the investment landscape. A huge thank you to those who joined us! Here are some key takeaways: 🔍 Understanding Impact: Liesel Pritzker Simmons (Blue Haven Initiative) highlighted the importance of looking a couple of steps beyond where financial investors stop: this is the essence of impact, understanding the real-world implications of our investments for all stakeholders involved. ⏳ Timing & Opportunities: Timing is crucial in identifying impact opportunities that are equally attractive commercial investments. Today, financial inclusion and climate have organically grown into those types of opportunities. 📊 Intentionality in Impact: Diane Mak (Allianz Global Investors), Nicolas Muller (Blue Earth Capital AG), and Julia Balandina Jaquier (JBJ Consult: Impact Investment Solutions) discussed the value of collaboratively defining impact KPIs, emphasizing that understanding the intentionality behind investments is key to achieving meaningful outcomes, as well as the importance of liquidity in private markets. 🌱 Future Investment Themes: We explored promising areas for the next decade, including: - Climate technology - Sustainable agriculture and biodiversity - The future of work and mental health - Digital technology in emerging markets - Impact secondaries for enhanced liquidity 💡 Building an Impact-Driven Business: Founders Portman Wills (Wagestream) and Tayo Oviosu (Paga Group Ltd) shared insights on embedding impact into company culture, emphasizing that aligned values between companies and shareholders are crucial for avoiding mission drift.
