Next Innovative Clinical Research (NICR)

The industry would love to believe that there is a lack of minority participation in clinical trials because of lack of trust or interest. From my assessment (and research for my dissertation) almost all of the people they I have asked if they’ve ever participated in a clinical trial, the answer is almost always NO…. When asked why not, it’s either no one has ever asked, or they didn’t know where to participate. After doing community events, I always receive a swarm of calls of people telling me their health problems, and asking if I have anything they could participate in. I absolutely hate telling them no. Today’s mission is to find more trials for 1. Hypertension 2. Type I and II diabetes 3. I didn’t want to open a research site in an underserved community on the south side of Chicago for the sake of throwing something together just to get patients in. I wanted to create a comfortable environment for the patients, my staff, and sponsors. I was extremely strategic about the location. Easily accessible to participants coming from the north and west sides of town. 10 minutes away from Downtown. Steps away from public transportation. AND free parking.
