Developing Entrepreneurial Mindsets in Secondary Schools What does an entrepreneurial mindset look like in the secondary school classroom? For the past six months we have been exploring this question with educators from four schools in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, through the Developing Entrepreneurial Mindsets project. Supported by the Babson Global Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership, we've leveraged a blend of maker-centered learning, systems thinking, and participatory creativity to help teachers identify key attributes of the entrepreneurial mindset tailored for secondary school students. Here's the list of attributes our teacher colleagues have developed so far: Risk Taker, Leader, Passionate, Problem Solver, Growth Mindset, Resilience, Positive Attitude, Flexibility, Systems Thinker, Creativity, Goal Setting, Networker, Researcher, and Planner. What's inspiring is that these attributes not only describe what entrepreneurial thinking may look like for students, they also serve as teaching targets for educators to aim for in their practice. We are thrilled to continue learning and collaborating with these educators as they implement strategies to cultivate entrepreneurial thinking for their students. Stay tuned for more updates! #EntrepreneurialMindset #SecondarySchool #Innovation Babson College

  • What does ethics have to do with Design Thinking? Everything. Yesterday, Lisa Yokana, Next World Learning Lab’s Chief Innovator and Design Instigator, had the privilege of working with around twenty educators and administrators at Watchung Hills Regional High School in New Jersey. The setting? Their brand-new Design Lab — a perfect space for creativity, collaboration, and meaningful conversations. This workshop was part of an ongoing collaboration with The Ethics Institute at Kent Place School to explore Design Thinking through an ethics lens. When we think about ethical decision-making, it’s about more than just choosing right from wrong. It involves evaluating situations through multiple perspectives, considering the broader impact of our actions, and applying core values like honesty, fairness, respect, and responsibility. Design Thinking invites us to design with others, not just for them. It encourages empathy — a deep understanding of others' lived experiences and perspectives. When we layer an ethical lens onto this process, it enhances our ability to create solutions that are inclusive, equitable, and responsible. Now, the educators at Watchung Hills are equipped with both a structured ethical decision-making model and the Design Thinking framework. They’re ready to bring these concepts into their classrooms, encouraging students to engage in hands-on learning, solve real-world problems, and think critically about the impact of their decisions. Imagine a generation of students empowered to redesign their world with empathy and ethics at the center. That’s the future we’re working toward at Next World Learning Lab. #DesignThinking #EthicsInEducation #NextWorldLearningLab #EthicalLeadership #EducationInnovation #DesignLab #FutureOfLearning #EdTech #StudentEngagement
