A Busy Week for Nextracker at REI 2024 🇮🇳 + Center for Solar Excellence Inauguration We enjoyed connecting with everyone at Asia’s largest B2B solar event of the year! Our team showcased Nextracker’s innovative smart solar tracker solutions designed to tackle the toughest challenges EPCs and solar developers face — including corrosion, uneven terrain and more. With over 40 utility-scale projects and 10 GW of annual production capacity in India, Nextracker remains committed to advancing the clean energy mission across the region. As part of that commitment, we inaugurated the Center for Solar Excellence (CFSE) in Hyderabad, India last week! This state-of-the-art facility spans 13 acres and is set to be a game-changer for solar technology in the region. It will support solar tracker research, development, training, and testing to accelerate India’s transition to renewable energy. And with the PowerworX Academy, we’ll be providing hands-on training to EPCs and installers on best practices for installing and maintaining solar tracker systems. Key highlights of the CFSE: - A 30,000 square foot advnced training and R&D facility. - Comprehensive support for the entire project lifecycle, from structural to electrical design, and beyond. - Collaboration with local suppliers, partners, and customers to develop and commercialize innovative Nextracker technology. In the latest episode of The Solar Journey podcast, Nextracker President, Howard Wenger reflects on his 40-year journey in solar with Dr. Torsten Brammer, where they dive deep into the moments that have shaped both his career and the solar industry. Howard’s deep technical and commercial expertise, combined with decades of collaboration with CEO Dan Shugar, has positioned Nextracker at the forefront of the solar tracker market.   Howard goes into the exponential value of solar and that the speed of solar’s current tech development points to the importance of integrating other technologies, like battery storage, to create a more resilient, 24/7 energy solution. "Trackers are still the core. We view the tracker as the spinal cord, the skeleton of the system," Howard states, reinforcing the critical role that trackers play in solar power plants. But the industry is evolving, and there’s potential for reintegration of services to offer more complete solutions, as customers increasingly request more from their OEM partners.   In closing, Howard reflects on the global solar market's evolution and the role that U.S. policy, such as the Inflation Reduction Act, plays in fostering innovation. He touches on the challenges ahead, including grid interconnection, where the U.S. interconnection queue for new projects exceeds 2.5 terawatts—double the nation’s current electric generating capacity.
