If you root something in emotional connection, it won’t go out of style. In a time where efficiency often takes priority, this session was a great reminder of the importance of allowing people to express their individuality through their home design. Thank you to Kate Pourhassanian of Unscripted Interior Design and Travis Hendrix of KGA Studio Architects, PC for an informative session at the #newhometrendssummit 👏 #jbrec #nhti

Loving Alex Thomas and Maegan Sherlock's new take on our "magic mortgage rate" chart. Just 21% of households find today's mortgage rates "acceptable". But if rates fall to 5-5.5%, that share jumps to 47%! #nhti #jbrec #rates

Societal shifts are changing how homes are designed for Millennials. Millennial households range from DINKs (dual income, no kids) to single income families and multi-generational setups. To keep up, builders are shifting toward a more diverse product strategy that reflects these different lifestyles. Thank you to our "Millennials and Gen Z" panelists for sharing their insights at the #newhometrendssummit. 🎙 Eric Finnigan, Vice President of Demographics Research, JBREC 🎙 Amit Bhakta, Senior Design Operations Manager, David Weekley Homes 🎙 Britney Gilley, Vice President of Design, Builders Design 🎙 Jim Holas, Vice President - Architecture, Rancho Mission Viejo #jbrec #nhti

Here’s a simple solution to maximize the utility of small kitchen spaces. This apartment does not fit a full-size island with counter-height seating, but many renters will expect (and highly value) a kitchen island. Others may want to use the space differently though. An easily moveable island on wheels, as demonstrated by JBREC’s Brandon Leo, is a great solution here. But where does this thing go when you’re not using it as an island? At their new Folia apartments in San Diego (near Carmel Valley), Holland Partner Group provides a custom-fit space where the island works like built-in cabinetry. JBREC got a dusty-boot tour of this community, you can check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gBuqhfUT #jbrec #realestatedevelopment #apartments

Welcome to spooky season 🎃
I never use the office whiteboard...and I got tired of it being blank! Decided to put a haunted twist on one of my favorite elevations that we've featured on DesignLens - the Signature Collection at Star Farms by Huntington Homes (part of Highland Homes). Loved summer but I'm ready for it to be fall! #JBREC #homedesign

New obligatory "cheers" photo op incoming... there's less than one month until the New York Housing Outlook is here! 🥂 Dubbed "the most informative day in housing", this event features a line-up of all the experts you need to hear from to set your 2025 strategy - curated by John Burns. Questions that will be addressed: * Have apartment and BTR values and construction starts bottomed? * Where is private equity headed next, now that rates have actually declined? * What does the rest of the world think about investing in America? * Is it different this time for the publicly traded homebuilders? * Will building costs decline, or has the massive increase become permanent? Interested? The 2025 Housing Market Outlook is open exclusively to John Burns Research and Consulting clients. For any questions about this or any of our other events, please contact Sean Wong at swong@jbrec.com. Now the real question... what beverage will make the cut for Mikaela Arroyo and Maegan Sherlock's takeaways post this year? #nhti #jbrec

Where in the world is #NHTI? 🌍 Last weekend, #jbrec teammate Reid Randall had the opportunity to mix business with pleasure at Fox Point Farms by Shea Homes in Encinitas, CA. Per Reid: This unique amenity complex features a farm, coffee roastery, small market, café, restaurant, brewery, and more. The vibrant atmosphere fostered a sense of community, attracting both local residents and visitors from Greater San Diego, like myself. Check out his snaps 📸 and follow Reid Randall for more market insights.

Take a tour of a 3D printed subdivision with John Burns 👇
Want to see a partially complete 3D printed subdivision looks like? I did. So I took this video of Lennar’s homes built by Icon here in Hillwood ‘s Wolf Ranch Masterplan in Austin from my rental car. The homes and community look great? Prices and interior visuals are here: https://lnkd.in/gQPgU2n5 This tech is clearly in the first inning of adoption. Can you imagine what this would do to the lumber industry if it received mass adoption? New Home Trends Institute Fred Balda Kenneth Perlman Michael Kenney Jr. Lennar ICON

If you think build-to-rent is boring, you clearly haven't been to Summerhill. Here's what you need to know about this Exton, PA project: ▪ Diverse product - Summerhill broadened its appeal with homes ranging from flats under 1,000 square feet to townhomes that can reach almost 2,500 square feet (with finished basements) ▪ Epic amenities - The high end amenities (pictured below) centralized in the site add to the lifestyle and sense of community. ▪ Less maintenance - "Away from Home Services", like watering plants and feeding cats, and 24-hour emergency maintenance alleviate the burdens of homeownership and give residents freedom. Developer: Cornerstone Tracy, LLC Architect: The Martin Architectural Group Interiors: Builders Design Landscape: Stuart and Associates, LLC Read the (temporarily ungated) feature here: https://lnkd.in/ga42HxWB #jbrec #nhti #buildtorent #rentalhome
