Today, the World Health Organization (WHO) released concerning new data on the rising level of physical inactivity in adults, reporting that 31% of adults do not get the physical activity needed to thrive, with women at least 5% less likely to participate in sports/movement than men. As a member of the World Federation of the Sporting Goods Industry (WFSGI), Nike is proud to be teaming up with world’s biggest sporting goods companies to drive global changes that will lead to more movement for all. We can have greater impact when we work together, and it will require all of us, alongside public sector policy makers and the World Health Organization, to address this global physical inactivity crisis. At Nike, we’re dedicated to doing this work every day. From initiatives like the Nike Community Ambassador program to our collaboration with our network of local, national and global community partners, Nike teammates are helping to increase access and opportunity for inclusive, fun, youth-centered play, leading with girls.
