Accelerating the Fight Against Cancer

About us

Niowave is a domestic supplier of medical and industrial radioisotopes from uranium fission and stable targets. Isotope inventories available for purchase include alpha, beta, and gamma sources. The system uses a superconducting linac instead of a nuclear reactor which is simpler to operate and less costly to license. It also eliminates the need for a nuclear reactor and weapons grade uranium (HEU). The small batch radiochemistry operations can be automated, and do not require licensing as a nuclear reprocessing facility. Isotope production and distribution utilize existing radiopharmaceutical supply chain and FDA approval processes.

We are thrilled to announce a significant milestone in our journey to scale up Ac-225 production. Since filing our Drug Master File in June 2023, our dedicated team has been consistently producing cGMP Ac-225 for commercial use. Just last week, we successfully produced our largest batch of Ac-225 and shipped to six different labs, both domestically and internationally. “This marks a pivotal advancement in our Ac-225 process development and sets the stage for accelerating our scale-up efforts in 2025,” stated CEO Mike Zamiara. Looking ahead, Niowave is on track to significantly boost our Ac-225 commercial supply in 2025 to a rate of 5 curies per year, with plans to bring a second production facility online within the next 12 months. #radiopharmaceuticals #nuclearmedicine

To better understand where you are going, it is important to remember the past. Today we highlighted the amazing work of the physicists who discovered Actinium 225 during our lunch “Tech Talk" on The History of Ac-225. We can take the fight to cancer today using Actinium due to the tireless efforts of the scientists before us. Actinium’s most noteworthy success has been in the treatment of prostate cancer and trials are underway to determine its efficacy in treating leukemia, breast, and brain cancers. Thank you, Robert Wahlen, “Director of Nuclear and Radioisotope Services, for taking the time to share a bit of history.

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to attend an awards dinner hosted by the Michigan Committee for ESGR, where my partner, Frank Silliman, MS, was able to recognize his employer, Niowave, Inc., for going above and beyond in support of his service in the Navy Reserve. Niowave, Inc. was one of nine Michigan employers to be recognized this year! The award recognized Niowave's support of their veteran and Reserve employees while they balance civilian and military careers. This support has a huge impact on quality of life for servicemembers, spoken from first-hand experience. Great job and thank you! 🎉👏 ESGR (Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve) was established in 1972 to help navigate and mediate conflicts that might arise between employers and their military employees. Today there are over 2,300 volunteers across the country working to ensure that all employers support and value the employment and service of their military members. This is one of many resources provided to members of the Navy Reserve, if you’d like to learn more, please reach out! LT Erika Sorensen, (269)486-9894, erika.j.sorensen.mil@us.navy.mil If military service does not work for you, but you’d like to provide support, ESGR is always looking for more volunteers. Look up your local chapter for more info! www.esgr.mil #USN #USNR #employersupport #ESGR #veterans #ReserveForce
