Since we’re on the subject of Project ECHO (See previous post)… We want to give a special shoutout to Central New Mexico Correctional Facility (CNMCF) for recently hosting a 40-hour training session and graduation at its high level facility! 👏👏👏 A big thank you 🙌 to Chaplain Wesley Gornall and Deputy Warden Krystal Rivera for organizing that event. #NewMexico #corrections #reentrymatters

NMCD + UNM Project ECHO = A game-changer! 🗣️✨ Why? Because inmates often feel more comfortable confiding in their peers, which makes this approach a powerful tool for fostering change and reducing recidivism. Here’s how it works…. Devoted team members from Project ECHO host peer education classes inside of our prison facilities, across low and high levels of inmates. At the conclusion of the classes the students make presentations about what they learned and answer questions from an audience. ‼️The OVERALL goal is to empower the students with the knowledge to protect themselves and others from communicable diseases, like Hepatitis C. #NewMexico #corrections #reentrymatters Project ECHO

🌱This week was special for our “Seed & Bloom” program at the Penitentiary of New Mexico (PNM)! Students in the horticulture and culinary arts program took part in a class called “The Far and Away Picnic.” 🥗🍽️ Four teams came together to create unique dishes, while following instructions, communicating effectively, and collaborating as they shared personal stories about food and connection. ✨Look for an article on this class in the January edition of Edible New Mexico ✨ Thank you to all the volunteers who make classes like this possible! Your support is invaluable! Seed and Bloom website: https://lnkd.in/gvjgaBKr #NewMexico #corrections #reentrymatters
