Hey there! Yep, that's me in the pic, taking a leap of faith in May 2023 by quitting my job without another lined up. Living in San Diego, do the math, right? From the outside, it might seem like I just quit, but to me, I walked away from security, from the comfort of a familiar salary that's been my safety net through adulthood. Was it the right move? The uncertainty was real, and there were moments of doubt, even the temptation to go back to a regular job. Fear? More like a constant companion during those times! I initially thought I'd open a dance studio for teen girls, boosting their self-esteem. But guess what? God had different plans, leading me through a 4.5-month investigation that unfolded a bigger purpose. And let me tell you, embracing that plan brought an indescribable sense of peace. From Luling, TX, little ol' me got chosen by God, and I said YES! Yes to believing that every experience, personal and professional, led me to this moment. Yes to carrying on my dad's entrepreneurial legacy, despite losing him when I was 3. Yes to breaking generational curses on both sides of my bloodline! No sugarcoating it, the past few months haven't been a walk in the park, but then again, what marathon ever is? Despite what social media might show, it's been a journey. Today's the day I finally believe those who said I'm destined for BIG things! Whatever's coming, "it's gonna be BIG." So, let me reintroduce myself – Candice Miles, Founder and CEO of No Gap Consulting. I'm on a mission to bridge the gap in representation of black women in senior and executive leadership roles. How? By empowering first-time Millennials and Gen Z women leaders and educating other cultures through my unconventional trainings to become TRUE allies when leading black women. Lesson learned: Evolution and elevation in life feel uncomfortable until they become your new normal! It’s starting to more comfortable here! Have an amazing day, y'all!

Girl, I’ve wanted to clap back at my boss so many times when I first stepped into leadership. But here’s what I’ve learned: true power is about moving smart, not loud. The 48 Laws of Power taught me to “lead without letting them know you’re in the driver’s seat.” The reality? As Black women, we’re often given limited room for mistakes. One tiny slip-up—like sending an email to the wrong group—can be blown up to question our whole skillset. While others might get a pass, we’re usually met with scrutiny instead of grace. So, here’s my tip for those “uh-oh” moments: Own it and flip it. Mistakes are part of any road trip; it’s how you handle those bumps that builds your rep. Just breathe, re-route, and keep moving forward. 🛣️ Save this post for a reminder the next time you make a mistake! ✌🏾 Coach C #NewManager #LeadershipJourney #BossUp #BlackGirlMagic #LeadershipJourney #WorkLifeBalance #NewLeaders #EmpoweredWomen #BlackWomenLead #leadershipdevelopment #corporatelife #firsttimeleaders #blackwomenleading #womenleaders

I know this is an unpopular opinion... But let’s talk about the real leadership titles Black women are given when we step into leadership, whether it’s official or not. We’re out here navigating roles that weren’t even on our radar: ✨The Diversity Leader: Even when it’s not in the job description, we’re expected to be the go-to for diversity efforts and educating others. ✨The Fixer: Handed underperforming teams or the toughest projects, like it’s our job to clean it up—without the recognition. ✨The Emotional Manager: Show passion or assertiveness, and suddenly, we’re “too emotional” instead of being seen as strong. ✨The Workhorse: Given more work, longer hours—because we’re “strong” and can handle anything, right? ✨The Supporter: Expected to mentor and assist more than lead big projects or be the visionary. These aren’t just titles—they’re reflections of the bias and challenges we navigate. Which one have you experienced? 👇🏾 Drop your thoughts in the comments! Can I lead authentically without code-switching?” Sis, that’s a question I get all the time! For those who may not know, code-switching is when we shift our speech, behavior, or appearance to fit in or make others feel comfortable—something I learned about three years ago while listening to a panel discussion. It’s about molding yourself to match the setting, and according to Harvard Business Review, it’s a common strategy folks use at work. But here’s my take on it… Drop a comment and let me know which part of your authentic self you’re bringing to the office this week! ✌🏾 Coach C
