The NCBA has established a Hurricane Helene Relief Fund through the NCBA Foundation to assist bank employees in Western North Carolina who have suffered losses and property damage as a result of the storm. Please consider providing relief to those in desperate need by donating to the NCBA’s Hurricane Helene Employee Relief Fund. Contributions may be made by US Mail to NC Bankers Association, 3601 Haworth Drive, Raleigh, NC 27609. NCBA will also collect contributions via ACH/wire. Please reach out to accounting@ncbankers.org for electronic payment information.

What's the latest?    #BankMergers: The FDIC approved a new policy on bank mergers, focusing on competitive effects, financial stability, and community impact. Critics say the changes will make the process make the bank merger process longer, more difficult, and less predictable. In addition, the OCC approved a final rule updating its regulations for business combinations involving national banks and federal savings institutions.   #OverdraftFees: The CFPB is cracking down on “phantom opt-ins” for overdraft fees, requiring banks to prove customers have consented to the charges under the Electronic Fund Transfer Act.   #CryptoFraud: Crypto-related fraud caused over $5.6 billion in losses in 2023, a 45% increase from last year.
