  • Katie Fitzsimmons, NDUS director of student affairs, recently joined Dr. William Burns, director of the North Dakota State University Counseling Center, and Sarah Dixon-Hackey, public policy ambassador for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention - N.D. Chapter, for a discussion on the Building the Raft While Drowning podcast. Building the Raft While Drowning offers a deeper look into the challenges of finding mental health services in rural communities and the many ways mental and behavioral health services are shaped by public policy. During their time together, Fitzsimmons, Burns and Dixon-Hackey discussed mental health services for college students across the state, the epidemic of loneliness that has reached campuses and the role that talk therapy can have on improving anyone's life.
