    This month, the Capitol Grounds Planning Commission unanimously approved architectural design development drawings submitted by the State Historical Society of North Dakota and the North Dakota National Guard for a new military gallery addition located on the south side of the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum.   Preliminary design plans for the approximately 60,000-square-foot addition include a 20,000-square-foot military gallery, a North Dakota National Guard regimental room also available for rental to the public for events, an expanded food service area, and an outdoor courtyard and amphitheater space.     NASA astronaut James Buchli will be presented with the North Dakota Theodore Roosevelt Rough Rider Award during a ceremony July 30 at the University of North Dakota (UND) in Grand Forks.   Burgum announced Buchli as the 49th recipient of the Rough Rider Award, the state’s highest commendation for its citizens, on May 20. The award ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. on July 30 in UND’s Robin Hall, 4275 University Ave., Grand Forks. A reception will follow.

    Three North Dakota boys have made international news after discovering a T. rex fossil in the Badlands. The trio announced their discovery publicly Monday at a Zoom news conference as workers at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science prepare to begin chipping the fossil out of its rock cast at a special exhibit called Discovering Teen Rex. The exhibit’s opening on June 21 will coincide with the debut of the film “T.REX,” about the July 2022 find. Read more: https://lnkd.in/gWESppam
