As we celebrate Disability Employment Awareness month, we want to recognize Samantha, who just started a new job at Alexander Safar Salon in Boston! Samantha is working as an assistant, which means doing everything from serving coffee to customers to cleaning the hair stylist's tools and stations. One of the things that Samantha enjoys most about her job is getting to dress up and look her best every day! #NDEAM

October is Disability Employment Awareness Month! Employment for people with disabilities or autism is critical not just because of the paycheck they collect, but because it provides a vital opportunity for inclusion in the community. At Northeast Arc, our supported employment team works with jobseekers to assess their goals and match them with local employers. The team currently supports more than 60 individuals in 14 communities across our area, including 18 people who have been hired so far this year. Individuals work in a diverse array of roles, from food service to manufacturing to law offices. Throughout this month we’ll be highlighting some recent hires, so stay tuned! #DEAM
