7.14.2022 ➡️ 6.13.2024 After nearly two years underground, the cutterhead from the Shoreline Storage Tunnel began its 100-foot journey up to ground-level yesterday afternoon. Since late 2022, this cutterhead has excavated more than 3 miles of soft-ground in our first soft-ground tunnel project, marking another milestone in our efforts to reduce 4.5 billion gallons of combined sewer overflows under Project Clean Lake. 700 days underground has this cutterhead looking a bit different. Luckily, it gets a well-deserved break before heading to its next project, our Southerly Storage Tunnel.
