This past weekend, we marked another significant milestone in the East Side Coastal Resiliency Project with the successful overnight installation of the Corlears Hook Bridge. The bridge, originally manufactured in Italy, was disassembled and shipped to the U.S., primarily transported to the site by barge. It was reassembled in the passive lawn area, and on installation night, the 120-ton, 157-foot-8-inch bridge was moved along the FDR Drive using self-propelled modular transporters. This ADA-accessible bridge will offer direct access to the Corlears Hook Ferry Terminal, the Amphitheater, Ballfields 1 and 2, and the upcoming compost facility.
