When the weather app says 100°F, most of us just crank up the AC—but for Sacramento Valley farmers, it could mean smaller peaches, lighter almonds, or lower yields all around. From ricelands to walnut groves, crops depend on the right touch from Mother Nature. Here’s how local farmers are handling the heat waves and droughts, crop by crop! https://lnkd.in/gmDTwPFv #SacramentoValley #Farming #Weather

The Rural Community Assistance Corporation (RCAC) has been instrumental in addressing critical water infrastructure challenges for small towns like Olivehurst. Their work, in partnership with the Olivehurst Public Utility District (OPUD), is helping connect hundreds of homes to reliable water and sewer services, ensuring that every resident has access to clean, safe water. This project is more than just an infrastructure upgrade—it's about equity, community health, and long-term resilience. We’re thrilled to see the progress on the Atmospheric River Control (ARC) Spillway at New Bullards Bar Dam. This important project is poised to enhance flood risk reduction for Yuba-Sutter and surrounding communities.
❗ Project update ❗ Earlier today, we gave an update to our board on the status of our planned Atmospheric River Control (ARC) Spillway at New Bullards Bar Dam in Yuba County, one of our biggest investments in flood risk reduction since building Bullards Bar. Design of the spillway is complete, and we're working with our board and partners on next steps, including securing permits and seeking external grant funding for the project. Check out our latest video to learn more about how the ARC Spillway, combined with operational improvements called Forecast-Informed Reservoir Operations, will benefit Yuba-Sutter communities and beyond. 🎥Thank you to our partners at the Scripps Institution of Oceanography for providing the atmospheric river research footage used in this video.
