We're the first health system in Long Island—and the only one currently in New York State—to use augmented reality (AR) for hip replacement surgeries. Dr. Keith Reinhardt, chief of joint reconstruction at South Shore University Hospital, was the first to use HipInsight, a mixed-reality technology that employs 3D holograms on patients undergoing hip replacement. Like Henri Rivers, an avid skier and ski coach who found himself sidelined by hip pain last season. In a first of its kind, our multidisciplinary cardiac team at Long Island Jewish Medical Center successfully implanted a leadless pacemaker and performed an atrial tachycardia ablation in an adult congenital heart patient with a double inlet left ventricle. 🫀💪 This is a congenital heart defect in which a patient only has one working pumping chamber in their heart. Just another example of our Northwell Cardiovascular Institute being ahead of the curve when it comes to providing our patients with the best heart care.
