A beautiful side effect of the frequent irrationality of people is the Darwinian rationality of free markets - even those burdened with heavy regulation and misaligned incentives buried within. The Wall Street wake-up call blaring from bigs like Untied, Walgreens, and CVS, marks an inflection point in a market turned-in upon itself. Bloated and lacking meaningful innovation, necessity is emerging as the mother of invention.
