Meet Caitlin Piatt, another impressive Summer Intern in this year's stellar class! Caitlin is a dedicated student from UC San Diego, majoring in Structural Engineering and set to graduate in 2025. Caitlin's journey to her major is both inspiring and relatable. "I realized how much I enjoyed physics during my junior and senior years, so I knew engineering would be right for me as it combines the principles of physics and hands-on activities that I enjoy," she shares. Her passion for physics and hands-on problem-solving makes her a perfect fit for our team. At Nova Group, we value curiosity, dedication, and the drive to learn—qualities Caitlin embodies fully. We’re thrilled to have her on board, contributing to innovative projects and gaining invaluable experience in the construction industry!

In September 2017, Hurricanes Irma and Maria caused significant damage to Base Detachment Borinquen (BDB) and Air Station Borinquen (ASB) in Puerto Rico, impacting the Coast Guard's vital missions. Our ongoing rebuild project includes major upgrades: electrical and telecom distribution, water systems, stormwater management, sanitary sewers, and resiliency repairs for the Coast Guard Exchange (CGX). We’re also enhancing electrical resiliency with new generators and BESS Battery systems. Stay tuned as we restore and strengthen these critical facilities. https://lnkd.in/gYz3f-c3

Grant Cole joined our impressive class of Summer Interns to develop, participate, and learn key roles and functions within construction engineering operations. Grant is pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering at California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo, and is on track to graduate in 2027. When asked what he is most passionate about learning, Grant said, "I live for the pursuit of furthering my knowledge in any way possible, whether it be changing a tire or solving differential equations. As long as I am learning, I am happy." Grant, we are proud to have you as part of our impressive team!

Project Update: We're upgrading Naval Base Bremerton's pump well 6 with a major valve replacement project. This includes replacing valves 7, 8, and 9 on the third level with butterfly valves and reconfiguring existing Clow Gate valves (7C, 8C, 9C, 9B, 10, 11). We're also adding two isolation valves between Pumps 1 & 2 and Pumps 2 & 3, allowing for better pump isolation on level 5. Meet Isabel (Izzy) Heinkenschloss, one of our remarkable interns at Nova Group! Izzy is pursuing a degree in Structural Engineering with a focus in Civil Engineering at the University of California San Diego, and is set to graduate in 2025. When asked why she chose her major, Izzy shared, "I’ve always loved architecture, but I also wanted to apply my skills in math. As a structural engineer, I look forward to playing a critical role in the design/build process of significant structures." Izzy is inspired by her peers and professors at UCSD, as well as her dad, who is a professor in the Engineering Department at Rice University. Your desire will lead you to big places, Izzy!

We are well on our way in beautiful Tinian! In addition to installing the P-9010 Fuel Tanks with Receipt Pipeline at Tinian International Airport, the system will also include a isolation pit, an additization station, seaport pump station, operational pump station at the airport, fire protection, spill control facility, emergency generators, and parking for fuel-related vehicles.
