In our previous post, we talked about how incredible it is that we cut #metal like we do as #machinist. What is equally as #incredible, is holding onto a chunk of metal as you jam a cutter through it at mind boggling rates. Let alone, holding onto it with just some hydraulicly pressed dimpling! HWR Workholding USA for the win. With their hydraulic crimping system and self-centering vices, you can lock these things into your zero-point tooling with incredible repeatability. We currently hold a 7050 and 6061, 10-inch-tall block (this is vertical in Z), 8-inches-wide and 4-inches-thick, holding onto just the crimped edge, and we rip into it with a Fraisa ¾ inch AX-FPS rougher. We remove over 75% of the metal in just under 30 minutes from this block. They also have an incredible line of unique holding systems like the INOFLEX for holding onto round parts with 4, self-centering jaws! The wheels on the bus go round and round, but here at Novo Modo, the cutting tools and holders in the machine go round and round and round, really, really fast while removing metal. Just the idea that you can cut metal at 1000’s of #RPMs and 100’s if not 1000’s of IPM/MPM is just incredible. To do this #accurately, for long periods of time, with great #reliability, you need #incredible #tooling. Another 2-for-1 post honoring the brands that make Novo Modo Great! Joseph Alonso is very familiar with their tooling, his #experience with them goes back 20 years. They truly are a #premium Japanese tooling #brand. They have an incredible lineup of inch and metric shrink fit, and the SK collet system is UNREAL! The #versatility, stability, a #capability of the SK Collet system may be unmatched in terms of price<->performance. The Shrink Fit machine, hands down, is the best system for the dollar. A 14KW coil with autosensing tool holder recognition, WHAT! Fraisa USA, Inc.… This may be all we need to say, but we will say more of course! Not only do these cutters ripppppppppp! They last forever, and ever, and ever… On top of it all, they come with all the feeds and speeds data, for probably every common material you can think of and even the exotics. This is real #data, #tested out on various machines at the #factory. We are not talking generic either, we are talking surfacing, roughing, profiling, facing, etc. They have data for it all. They even have several cutters that will ramp into hard metals and soft metals at angles in the double digits. No need for drills when you can just plunge your endmills in. The #art that is “cutting chips” can get a little heated! To combat this, someone had the great idea of mixing oil and water together. #Brilliant, we have all seen how well that works. Actually, if you are a #machinist, you know exactly how well it works, you know exactly how many options are out there, and sadly, you know just how many "flavors” they come in… No, Joseph Alonso does not yet know how it tastes, but he does have a favorite and he knew there was only one #SOLUTION. Joseph needed to find a coolant that could stand the 1000 PSI being pushed through the spindle and the Micro level filtration, not eat the paint off the inside of his tanks and cause skin or respiratory irritation, and not go rank in record time. When @Joseph Alonso was considering starting a #business, one of the things he said that would make the idea concrete was finding a #premium machine tool builder that he trusted, who would #support him and his new #manufacturing #concept.
