In honor of National Co-op Month and the seventh Cooperative Principle of Concern for Community, CFC held a food drive, with staff donating more than 400 items to the Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) Hunger Resource Center. Thank you to those who donated, organized the drive, sorted the food and delivered everything to NVFS!

In honor of National Co-op Month, CFC staff members visited Shenandoah Valley Electric Cooperative (SVEC). Staff first participated in a field visit to Mt. Jackson Substation/Community Solar Site, followed by an in-depth tour of SVEC’s headquarters facility in Rockingham, Virginia. There, staff met with the SVEC senior leadership team, discussing key projects and engaging in an insightful Q&A. CFC staff also received an overview of various departments’ within SVEC’s operations and critical team members. Many thanks to the SVEC team for a wonderful visit!

Following hurricanes Helene and Milton, CFC made donations to electric cooperative employee emergency assistance funds in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee and is also working with Georgia’s statewide association to provide their electric cooperative employees with financial assistance. In addition to supporting statewide associations, CFC is working with nearly 30 electric cooperatives across the five states to put in place emergency lines of credit to ensure they have quick access to funds to support their restoration and recovery efforts.

Each year, we celebrate our unique business model in October, which is National Co-op Month. This year, CFC, along with 40,000 other cooperative businesses, will pay tribute to our organizational structure with the theme of “The Future Is Cooperative.”

CFC Vice President of Utility Research & Policy Jan Ahlen and District 7 Director Darick Eisenbraun (CEO of High Plains Power Inc.) recently presented CFC and NCSC Educational Fund checks totaling over $17,000 to the Wyoming Rural Electric Association (WREA) at the WREA Fall Conference. CFC Educational Fund money is distributed through electric cooperative statewide associations to be used for a variety of educational efforts, including videos, training programs, youth camps, scholarships, exhibits and advertising efforts.
