  • Surveying & Geospatial Education at Its Best – Featuring NUBIGON Many of you know Shea Gleadle from his YouTube channel, 3rd Dimension, where he provides free, high-quality education on surveying and geospatial data capture & processing. We’ve learned a lot from him—and we know many of you have too! Recently, Shea published a comprehensive, nearly 30-minute evaluation of NUBIGON, covering our software's what, why, and how. If you haven’t seen it yet (or any of Shea’s insightful videos), now’s the time to check out his channel (link in the comments)! 🎬 As a teaser, here’s the intro. We’re honored to be featured in this review and believe that independent educational platforms like 3rd Dimension are essential for driving the industry forward and supporting tech adoption. 🚀 What are your favorite educational resources for geospatial & surveying workflows? Let’s discuss! #RealityCapture #Surveying #Geospatial #PointCloud #3DVisualization #NUBIGON #3rdDimension #TechAdoption

Five Years Later – Back at New York Build Expo! It’s great to be back at #newyorkbuild! This event holds a special place for us—it was the first show we attended after launching the first full version of NUBIGON. I was shaking hands, demoing like crazy, and introducing it to as many people as possible… just a few days before the first COVID lockdown! It’s unbelievable that five years have passed. Reality capture has evolved tremendously since then, gaining serious momentum in the digital twin industry. We’re proud to support service providers and laser scanner manufacturers in advocating for these technologies. Walking through the expo hall, it’s been amazing to see so many video presentations made with NUBIGON Inc. even when reality capture is just a small part of the event. A huge shoutout to Michael Quan and Bill Gutelius —they’ve been with us from the very beginning, and we’re grateful for their long-time trust. Be sure to visit them to see their service and product portfolio (and, of course, some great NUBIGON animations!). Don’t miss our friends at NOAR Technologies and NavVis either! Austin Jennee, it was great to finally meet in person! And finally, it was fantastic catching up with banu sayin one of our earliest adopters and champions. If you are around tomorrow, let’s meet up!

  • The Critical Role of Reality Capture in Post-Fire Assessments When a building is affected by fire or other disasters, precise, high-fidelity spatial data is crucial for assessment, restoration, and reconstruction. Reality capture, in general, and laser scanning, in particular, play vital roles in collecting this information. 🔥 How is laser scanning used after incidents like fires? • Structural assessments: Capturing high-resolution point clouds helps engineers evaluate damage and plan stabilization efforts. • Insurance & legal documentation: Accurate scans provide reliable claims, liability, and compliance records. • Restoration and reconstruction: 3D captures & digital twins of affected structures allow teams to compare pre- and post-incident conditions, guiding efficient repairs. However, collecting the data is just one part of the equation. High-quality rendering is key to effectively communicating findings to stakeholders. Our premium visualization solution, NUBIGON, ensures that point cloud data is presented clearly and compellingly. This stunning rendering, prepared in NUBIGON by Nicolas Trültzsch and his team at My Digital Buildings, is a perfect example of how laser scanning data can be presented with precision and impact. 🚀 As reality capture becomes an industry standard for post-disaster assessments, are firms doing enough to advocate these benefits to decision-makers? Let’s discuss! 👇 #LaserScanning #RealityCapture #PointCloud #FireDamageAssessment #3DVisualization #DigitalTwins #NUBIGON

  • The Golden Rule of Communicating Scan-to-BIM 🥇 Explaining Scan-to-BIM can be a challenge—especially to those unfamiliar with point clouds and as-built modeling. The golden rule of effective communication? Keep it short and simple. Check out this GIF by Krisber Aguilar🛸 Aguilar, using NUBIGON renderings, to showcase a hospital Scan-to-BIM project by DCMS. In just a few frames, it delivers a clear, powerful visual of how point clouds translate into BIM models! For Scan-to-BIM firms looking to showcase their projects more effectively, this is a perfect example of how NUBIGON’s high-quality point cloud & BIM rendering can help tell the story from reality capture to digital twins! 🚀 Now with IFC support, NUBIGON makes presenting your work easier than ever! How do you communicate Scan-to-BIM to clients and stakeholders? Let’s discuss! 👇 #RealityCapture #ScanToBIM #PointCloud #BIM #Visualization #NUBIGON #IFCSupport #3DModeling

  • Harnessing Point Cloud Intelligence with Intensity Intensity-based visualization is one of the most powerful yet underrated ways to interpret point clouds. Unlike RGB data, which depends on external lighting conditions, intensity values are captured directly from the LiDAR sensor, providing a consistent, high-contrast representation of scanned environments. This video, rendered in NUBIGON, showcases a drone LiDAR scan of BEXCO convention center in Busan, Korea, captured by Leo Z. L. during last year's Drone Show Korea using a RESEPI-Lite-XT32 system in SLAM mode by Inertial Labs, a VIAVI Solutions Company. The intensity display reveals substantive details, emphasizing structural features, helping material differentiation, and object detection—all critical for applications like mapping, infrastructure inspection, and autonomous navigation. 💡 Why use an intensity display? ✔️ Unbiased visualization—not affected by external lighting like RGB. ✔️ Enhanced contrast—easier to distinguish features in complex environments. ✔️ Works in all conditions—ideal for night scanning or low-light environments. 🚀 Whether you’re working with mobile, terrestrial, or drone LiDAR, intensity-based rendering in NUBIGON provides a clean, data-driven perspective of your scans. #RealityCapture #LiDAR #PointCloud #IntensityDisplay #3DVisualization #DroneMapping #SLAM #NUBIGON

🎥 Seamless Flythrough Transitions with NUBIGON + DaVinci Resolve How can I switch from surface mode to x-ray mode during a flythrough? The answer? A simple workflow using NUBIGON and DaVinci Resolve (a free and powerful video editing software). In this tutorial, we explain how to transition smoothly between material modes, helping you create dynamic, informative project presentations. 💡 Why use this technique? ✔️ Change materials & toggle visibility mid-animation. ✔️ Enhance your storytelling—highlight key details by revealing different layers of your dataset. ✔️ Get into video editing—unlock more polished, professional-grade marketing materials. 🎬 Watch the tutorial & take your flythroughs to the next level! #RealityCapture #3DVisualization #PointCloud #LiDAR #Animation #NUBIGON #DaVinciResolve #Flythrough

  • 🚀 Mobile Mapping in High Resolution: Mosaic Meridian Point Clouds Rendered with NUBIGON Thanks to Leo Z. L. for sharing this video featuring a Mosaic - Geospatial Imaging Leaders point cloud, captured with Inertial Labs, a VIAVI Solutions Company high-precision INS/LiDAR system and rendered—of course—in NUBIGON. Mosaic is increasingly recognized for its high-resolution panoramic images, but its point clouds stand out just as much, making Mosaic Meridian a comprehensive mobile mapping solution. At NUBIGON, we often say that point clouds are the true measure of spatial reality capture quality, and this video is an excellent example of unveiling what's behind the shiny panoramas. NUBIGON’s signature x-ray mode provides a crisp, clean presentation for data like this, enhancing detail and clarity. We’ve also seen fantastic intensity-based renderings of Mosaic Meridian data—check them out on Mosaic’s page! 🎥 Watch the video & let us know what you think! #RealityCapture #MobileMapping #LiDAR #PointCloud #Geospatial #MosaicMeridian #NUBIGON
