Early Maturity Chickpeas - Reducing Chemicals & Supporting Growers! 🔍 Why are Early Maturity Chickpeas important? Chickpea plants, like other legume and grain crops, need to dry-down before they can be harvested. Today commodity chickpeas typically have a 110-130 day growing cycle, putting them at risk of yield loss when spring frosts push back planting dates or early fall rains delay harvest. In regions where chemical drying agents (desiccants) are allowed, growers may opt for chemicals like glyphosate to “finish them off” in the field and ensure the crop can be harvested. This is why NuCicer’s early maturity chickpeas with a 10-20 day shorter cycle are such a game-changer! 🌱 Benefits of NuCicer’s Early Maturing Varieties: 1. Risk Mitigation: With a shorter growing season, growers can better navigate adverse weather conditions and other unpredictable factors without risking yield. 2.
