Our Atomic Aggies are learning valuable skills in and outside of the classroom! This past summer, Texas A&M nuclear engineering student Diego Ross returned to Zachry Group as an engineering intern for Numerical Advisory Solutions. He continued his work from last year in constructing thermohydraulic models of various reactor types. Using GOTHIC, a versatile software package for thermal hydraulics, Diego verified passive safety systems, compared the flow rates of molten salt, and simulated new reactor designs. He was able to apply many of the concepts he learned in classes such as thermohydraulic and reactor design. "While I certainly applied what I learned in the classroom this summer, I relied heavily on what I learned outside of the classroom: teamwork, communication, responsibility, critical thinking,” Diego said. “The Nuclear Engineering department has helped me to develop into a well-rounded engineer!"
