We've received CA DMV approval to test our third-generation L4 autonomous vehicle in four Bay Area cities: Los Altos, Menlo Park, Mountain View, and Palo Alto. This builds upon our 4+ years of driverless operations and significantly expands our current deployment area. The map below shows the expansion over time of our autonomous fleets—including our testing fleet—with our upcoming driverless operations shaded in dark purple. This milestone reinforces our commitment to safely developing L4 autonomy for all. Our record of zero at fault incidents since the start of operations in 2020 is a testament to that commitment. Hidden pedestrians in narrow corridors can challenge even skilled human drivers. But the Nuro Driver navigates these tricky situations safely, thanks to its impressive perception capabilities. Our system spots two pedestrians from afar, predicting their presence behind a landscaping truck and trailer. As it moves through the narrow space, the Nuro Driver detects partially hidden workers, including one about to cross. It pauses briefly, evaluates the scene, and proceeds safely - just as an experienced human driver would.
