Monthly Collaboration Workshop 📒 📒 !! NYM Construction + Development is happy to share it will be conducting monthly workshops with different industry leaders as a team learning experience. Last week was a fun evening of team bonding, delicious food, and a wonderful presentation by LCD Elevator Repair, Inc.First of many to come!!!! NYM had the pleasure of hosting LCD Elevator Repair, Inc at our office for a presentation. At this event, LCD elevator provided us with a deeper insight on how the processes work on their back end from shop drawing coordination's, submittals, manufacturers, fabrication, installation, inspections, etc. They also educated us on the different types of elevator systems and their functionalities while recommending the type of elevator that should be used for a certain type of project. The key takeaways from the presentation were on mitigating long lead times and understanding the prospective amendments in the elevator industry. At the conclusion of this event, we felt much more informed & educated about the elevator industry in order to maximize results for our existing & prospective clients. Lastly, we would like to express our genuine appreciation towards, LCD Elevator Repair, Inc for the success of this event and we look forward to numerous successful collaboration on prospective projects. Exciting Update!  A few months ago, NYM Construction + Development embarked on a challenging journey to build out / renovate this beautiful historic landmark building in the heart of Williamsburg. As we all know, working with existing conditions requires constantly brainstorming solutions because you never know what you might unravel in over a 100 year old historic structure which has been through several rounds of modifications already. However, if you have never experienced working with existing conditions, here is an example which would help you understand in a nutshell. Example: In a new building, the process of constructing a CMU shear wall for an elevator shaft is pretty straightforward & quick. However, in an existing building where already floor slabs exist made out of different material & thickness on every floor it's not so simple. The gist of the procedure followed here was as follows: STEP 1: The CMU wall meets the existing bottom of the beam. STEP 2: Bond beam for bull bearing. STEP 3: Open concrete floor from above for the elevator shaft opening until concrete cut line. STEP 4: Cut beam to beam cut line. STEP 5: Fill the beam pocket with solid grouting. STEP 6: Continue CMU wall on top A straightforward scope converts into a complex multiple steps process at almost every second or third scope making it even harder to come up with an accurate schedule or budget. But at NYM with our team of extremely experienced and dedicated personnel we are ready for the challenge of delivering this project with utmost efficiency and lowest possible economic costs for our client. We're thrilled to share that we've successfully completed the foundation stage and are swiftly moving towards the steel erection phase.
