People. Service. Easy.
About us
In addition to our many, many years of experience, our founders all had something in common: we felt as if we had seen banking change -- for the worse. We shared the conviction that what we do could be done better by returning to some of the age-old practices that had been lost, and also by offering a new, more streamlined set of services. We believed banking could simply be done smarter. The essential practice of building a deeply bonded relationship between financial advisor and client - a relationship that was common a century or so ago - has been lost. Banks have evolved to a point at which they spend much of their money and time on less important things - not the things we at Oakworth believe to be so vital. So we have re-thought banking - from the way transactions are handled, to how deeply we know our clients, to the technology we employ to serve them. The 2024 Presidential campaign has been nothing if not exciting. From the disastrous first debate to the assassination attempt on Donald Trump to President Biden dropping out of the race, things couldn’t get more weird. Or could they? Kamala Harris will assuredly leave the Democratic Convention in Chicago that party’s official nominee. However, who will be the Vice President on her ticket? Just how far to the left will the party platform go? On the other side of the aisle, what does JD Vance ultimately bring to the ticket? Is the GOP actually trying to win? There are too many questions and too few answers this close to the election. In this week’s Trading Perspectives, Samuel Clement and John Norris discuss the upcoming Presidential election and how bizarre the campaign, thus far, has been. Can it get worse between now and November? Listen in: https://lnkd.in/gr9bUGFX

"There was over a 1300 basis point swing from large-cap growth to small-cap core in 5 trading sessions. To say this is unusual would be an understatement. To that end, I can’t remember another asset class rotation this profound in such a short period of time." Read more as Chief Economist, John Norris, weighs in on recent activity of the stocks associated with AI in our most recent Common Cents article. As for Oakworth’s thoughts on the current political landscape, it appears the markets are, and should be, in a “wait and see” approach. Until investors know who the ultimate Democratic candidate will be and exactly what the party platform will entail, it is extremely difficult to predict the impact President Biden’s withdrawal from the race will have. This makes the upcoming Democratic convention in Chicago even more important than it would have been.
