Delivering on the promise of DME & unlocking potential of the hydrogen pathway to zero-emission mobility.

About us

We’re Oberon and we’re on a mission to decarbonize the fuel and energy sectors through the commercialization of innovative fuels. Oberon’s low or carbon-negative fuels are made from organic waste, such as food waste, agricultural waste, and cellulosic waste. Our renewable DME is a here-now, practical way to decarbonize LPG and provide a new way to deliver renewable hydrogen for transportation, industry, and heating. Our renewable methanol is a drop-in replacement for applications that use methanol today, and new applications where green methanol will lower emissions. With the world’s first commercial-scale plant and a pipeline of projects for hundreds of millions of gallons per year. Oberon aims to deliver major environmental benefits while energizing local communities with new plants and jobs, turning waste into value. We’ve partnered with companies around the world including Suburban Propane, DCC Energy, Lipigas, Volvo Trucks, Mack Trucks, and Ford. Learn more about us and our product line at oberonfuels.com

With our team being #remote first, we find ways to connect monthly for a variety of different things. And one of those ways is our “Hot Topic Sessions.” The sessions are 30-minute, employee-led meetings where coworkers come together to learn about and discuss various work-related topics. Hot Topics covers a wide range of subjects and encourages active participation, promotes knowledge sharing, and helps build a more informed and cohesive team. Ann Anthony shared valuable insights with  the Oberon team about how hiring professionals are approaching job creation for technologies within the energy transition and its impact on workforce development. Check out her takeaways. ⬇️

Did you know that since 2021, we’ve been using a game-changing blend of renewable dimethyl ether (DME) and LPG to power forklifts at our Brawley, California plant. 💡 Recently, the UN's approval of a 12% DME-LPG blend for transport opens doors for wider adoption. This isn't just about forklifts - it's a glimpse into a cleaner industrial future! 🌍💚 Thanks for sharing World Liquid Gas Association!

Since 2021 Oberon Fuels has been utilising a blend of renewable dimethyl ether DME and LPG to power the forklift at its Brawley, California production site. This move aligns with Oberon’s focus on sustainability and the efficient use of its renewable fuels in practical, everyday applications. As the world accelerates its push for net-zero emissions, the maritime sector is making waves with innovative solutions. A recent Argus Media report spotlights #methanol 💧 as a beacon of hope for sustainable shipping. This question from the Methanol Institute really got us thinking: 💡 Is the maritime industry ready to set sail towards a greener future?🚢 🌿

𝙒𝙞𝙡𝙡 𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙚𝙧𝙣𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚 𝙛𝙪𝙚𝙡𝙨 𝙗𝙚 𝙖𝙫𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙨𝙘𝙖𝙡𝙖𝙗𝙡𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙤𝙪𝙜𝙝 𝙩𝙤 𝙢𝙚𝙚𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙞𝙣𝙙𝙪𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙮'𝙨 𝙖𝙢𝙗𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨 𝙙𝙚𝙘𝙖𝙧𝙗𝙤𝙣𝙞𝙨𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙜𝙤𝙖𝙡𝙨? 🚢 🌐 🍃 This is the critical question question the maritime sector is grappling with as the world accelerates its push for net-zero emissions. A recent Argus Media report highlights #methanol 💧 as one of the most promising short- to medium-term transition fuels for shipping. 𝙒𝙝𝙮 𝙢𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙖𝙣𝙤𝙡? 🟢 A viable transition fuel: As LNG and biofuels face limitations, methanol presents a compelling alternative. It sidesteps key challenges like feedstock competition and scalability issues that hinder biofuels. 🟣 Growing adoption: The Argus database tracks around 250 methanol-capable vessels on order through 2028. This indicates a shift in industry trends and a projected demand of ~16 million tonnes of methanol annually by 2028. ⚪ Infrastructure & safety: Unlike ammonia, which faces significant safety and bunkering hurdles, methanol is a safer, more immediately deployable solution that is gaining momentum in shipbuilding.   𝙒𝙝𝙖𝙩’𝙨 𝙣𝙚𝙭𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙜? Ultimately, we cannot view the maritime sector in isolation from the broader #energytransition. The industry continues to face uncertainty. To accelerate the transition, clearer pathways for implementation and stronger mechanisms ⚙️ to support #alternativefuel uptake are needed. The 2025 deadline for the introduction of International Maritime Organization 2050 implementation mechanisms will be a critical milestone, providing the clarity needed to steer the industry in the right direction. As we await these developments, it’s clear that methanol can play a key role in the transition to sustainable shipping. At the Methanol Institute, we’re committed to advancing methanol as a key 🔑 fuel for the future of shipping. With the right support, innovation, and investment, methanol can help the shipping industry meet its decarbonisation goals.
