Lynnwood City Center Station is LEED Gold! Congrats to Sound Transit and the team for great project. O’Brien360 supported this project from the beginning, working with the team to translate the complexities of a transit station into the LEED BD+C system, review design strategies against sustainability goals, reviewing construction submittals for LEED compliance and meeting regularly with the construction team. Lynnwood is one of Sound Transit’s first LEED v4 projects and the agency was one of the early adopters of v4 in the region. We are looking forward to this LEED Gold Station opening August 30th to support growing transit options in our region. Olson Kundig is excited to announce the publication of a new book highlighting The Century Project, a comprehensive renovation of the Space Needle. New Heights: Transforming Seattle’s Iconic Space Needle, set to be published on February 3, 2024 by The Images Publishing Group Pty Ltd, provides readers with a visually engaging narrative detailing the Space Needle’s $100 million transformation. "We set out to make a new form of observation architecture,” project design lead Alan Maskin shares. “One that would connect visitors to the expansive vistas of the region in ways that were outside the realm of the predictable, the safe, and the expected." “A construction project 500 feet in the air—you might as well be building in outer space!” adds project architect Blair Payson. “It made sense that the consultant team included experts from the aerospace, robotics, and space launch industries.” The book is available to purchase at several Seattle booksellers, as well as from the publisher and online retailers—visit the link below to learn more! https://lnkd.in/d4bw_6zT #Seattle #Architecture #BookRelease Project Team: Alan Maskin, Design Principal; Blair Payson, AIA, LEED AP, Project Architect; Marlene Chen, AIA, LEED AP, Crystal Coleman, LEED AP, Alex Fritz, Julia Khorsand, Hayden Robinson and Nathan Boyd, Architectural Staff; Naomi Mason, IIDA, LEED AP, Interior Design; Laina Navarro, Interior Design Staff

Congrats to the Haring Center on a great grand re-opening! We had the pleasure of attending the Grand Re-opening Celebration last Saturday for the UW Haring Center for Inclusive Education, and it was great to see the result of years of hard work from Mithun, Lease Crutcher Lewis, and the entire design team. At the re-opening, the team got to announce that our project is on track for LEED Platinum, surpassing our original Gold target! This will be the first renovation on the UW Seattle Campus to pursue that milestone, and only second to pursue Platinum. O’Brien360 is the LEED PM on the project and we’re proud of the work we’ve accomplished and of the team for committing to a high bar for sustainability. Wish you were there? Are you ready for the new LEED v4 Energy requirements? Projects registered on or after March 1, 2024 will be subject to the new LEED v4 energy prerequisite and credit requirements. These changes increase the minimum efficiency required to meet the prerequisite as well as individual point thresholds, and formally introduce the split metric approach of energy cost and greenhouse gas emissions to v4. The changes apply to all commercial and residential design and construction LEED rating systems including BD+C, ID+C, BD+C: Multifamily Midrise, and Homes. In our region, we expect this to impact project performance on this credit by 5-8 points. Thinking of certifying under LEED v4? Contact O’Brien360 and we’ll help you get started on the right foot! https://lnkd.in/dE673y8x
