Then ▶️ Now: Kitten Edition 🐱 In honor of #NationalCatDay we’re excited to share an update on one of our memorable kitten rescues! Smokey’s brave journey began in June 2023 when he got stuck inside the underbody of a stranger's car. The kind civilian heard meowing and brought her vehicle to Station 61 for help. After some investigation, the crew carefully freed a small gray kitten! OCFA's Division 7 Administrative Assistant, Amparo, ended up adopting the kitten, naming him Smokey! Today, Smokey enjoys playing with stuffed animals, eating, and being with his family in his fur-ever home. At OCFA, no rescue is too small... or too fluffy!

At OCFA’s October 24th Board of Directors meeting, Orange City Fire Department Captain Carl Collins was honored for his off-duty heroism the night of the accident involving our Hand Crew. During the recognition, Captain Collins was re-united with some of the injured firefighters whose lives he helped save, a special moment that underscored the deep familial ties that bind all firefighters – on duty and off.
