At Ochsner Health, chief residents are paving the way for interns to master the EHR through an innovative peer-coaching program. This initiative reduces the learning curve, enhances efficiency and ensures more time is spent on patient care rather than documentation. “Residents are pulled in a lot of different directions,” said Sydney Graham, MD, a chief ob-gyn resident at Ochsner Health. “We don't have a lot of time. We're putting in a lot of long hours. You can get really bogged down in documentation and spend most of your time worrying about the EHR, and how to manage your workload, versus being able to spend it on patient care.”

Oct. 1 marked National Hair Day, celebrating hair's beauty and significance. We hosted our inaugural "Revive & Renew: Styling Confidence Post Chemo" workshop at Ochsner Medical Complex - The Grove in partnership with the Ochsner Cancer Institute and EGGIE Salon Studio. With the expertise of Rachel Eggie Gibbs from EGGIE Salon Studio, our event instilled confidence in post-treatment cancer patients. Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine celebrated their five-year anniversary on Sept. 26, 2024, and what a celebration it was! 🎉 Ochsner Hospital for Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has cared for more than 33,000 patients across the region, plus performed over 20,0000 surgical procedures in their eight operating rooms, since opening the doors in September 2019. "As we reflect on the past five years, I am immensely proud of our team's dedication and hard work," said George Chimento, MD, chair of orthopedic surgery at Ochsner Health. "Ochsner’s unwavering commitment to providing outstanding orthopedic care has truly transformed many lives in our community, getting our patients back to an active life." Ochsner Health physicians, advanced practice providers, athletic trainers, nurses, physical therapists and more joined together at the hospital in Jefferson, Louisiana, to honor the success and care they’ve provided for people in Louisiana and across the Gulf South. “What we’ve all achieved for our patients and communities over the last half-decade has been truly amazing and we will make even bigger strides in the next five years,” said Deryk Jones, MD, section head of sports medicine at Ochsner Health. “I’m confident because I know the talent, hunger for learning and innovative spirit that exists across our teams.” With a focus on education and research, the hospital has expanded its medical education offerings, including multiple residencies and fellowships, and has established itself as a leader in orthopedic and sports medicine research. Additionally, the Ochsner Andrews Sports Medicine Institute offers access to sports medicine physicians, athletic trainers, physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons and other specialists to provide best-in-class care for athletes across Louisiana and Mississippi.
