Addressing poverty in urban Denver through transitional housing, job training, youth programs, and community outreach.
About us
Our mission is to show mercy, build community, and make disciples for Christ in urban Denver. Open Door Ministries exists to provide practical help and hope to people in urban Denver who are homeless or low income. Our primary objective is to move people toward self-sufficiency by helping change the circumstances and life patterns that have held them captive to poverty and addictions. Through four focus areas, we provide tangible needs like food, shelter, access to education and employment training, as well as intangible needs such as friendship, hope, and Christian spiritual guidance. Since the issues faced by our friends tend to have many layers, Open Door has learned that the best way to help them succeed is to surround them with support, holistically empowering them to overcome obstacles, attain self-sufficiency, and thrive.

After fleeing violence and struggling through shelters, P found a new beginning at Te Veo House in 2023. The safe space gave her the stability and faith she needed to rebuild her life. Now, she's pursuing her dream of becoming a certified interpreter. Her story is a powerful reminder that every survivor's struggle matters and healing is possible. As we continue through Domestic Violence Awareness Month, it’s crucial to recognize the role that housing and community support play in helping survivors of domestic violence. By providing safe, stable environments, Open Door is doing its part to combat the devastating effects of domestic violence and to help survivors take their first steps toward a brighter future. Stories like hers remind us of the life-changing power of a safe space. What’s more, God sees and wants to restore all people. They are not invisible. Their struggles are real. Their stories matter. Learn more about P’s journey and how to partner with Open Door this DV Awareness Month here: odmdenver.org/news #domesticviolenceawareness #DVAM #TeVeo #HopeandHealing

3 Big Gifts That Won’t Break the Bank Thinking about making a year-end gift to Open Door Ministries? Here are three ways to give that can make a big impact without affecting your cash flow: 1) Gifts of Stock: Donating appreciated stock or securities you've held for at least a year lets you receive a charitable tax deduction AND avoid capital gains tax. 2) Gifts of Real Estate: Consider giving all or part of a vacation home, rental property, or other real estate. It's a smart way to support God’s Kingdom while redirecting property you no longer need. 3) Gifts from Your IRA: If you're 70½ or older, make a significant gift directly from your IRA. This not only meets your required minimum distributions but also lowers your taxable income. Want to learn more? Reach out to Sheronda at sheronda@odmdenver.org to explore your giving options. #YearEndGiving #TaxWiseGiving #OpenDoorMinistries #SupportNonProfits #SmartGiving #MakeAnImpact website: odmdenver.org
