Last Friday night, September 6, I joined the 50th-year reunion for Tandem Computers at the Dallas/Plano Marriott at Legacy Town Center. It was hard to believe that it’s been fifty-years since Tandem first began. It was a great opportunity to visit with colleagues and friends from my time at Tandem. I was a lifer at Tandem - I spent my entire career from college graduation until retirement at Tandem/Compaq/HP/HPE. It was always good to see how the Tandem spirit has continued on in the current NonStop world through the acquisitions and spin-off. A highlight of the evening was getting see, hear from, and visit with Jimmy Treybig who was the founder, President, and CEO of Tandem. Many relationships were refreshed throughout the evening - it was great to learn what folks have been doing over the past decades, both personally and professionally. Attendees brought an amazing array of memorabilia from the Tandem era to share in the pop-up Tandem Museum - it was a great stroll down memory lane. The evening would not have been possible without the passion and drive of Diane Funkhouser to conceive and execute the event. NonStop Partners OmniPayments, comforte AG , and Gravic, Inc. all supported the evening. Master of ceremonies Ben Coan and his team at Odyssey Information Services provided invaluable staffing support to keep everyone on-track and where they needed to be. It was a great event, with great people, and great memories. Long live Tandem!
