Oertel Architects was established and incorporated in the state of Minnesota in January of 1996. We specialize in municipal architecture, including public works facilities/ maintenance buildings, park & rec facilities, water treatment facilities, fire stations, and community centers. We are a small firm by choice as we prefer a direct, "hands-on" approach to all of the projects we work on. We are committed to placing our clients as our first priority, while designing the built environment to be aesthetically pleasing, environmentally responsible, and technically sound. We are based in St. Paul, MN and have a satellite office in Hibbing, MN.

Congratulations to OERTEL ARCHITECTS and The City of Robbinsdale, MN for winning the APWA’s 2024 Public Works Project of the Year Award! The City of Robbinsdale earned the award in the Small Cities/Rural Communities category, in the Environment division and the project was the Centralized Softening Wastewater Treatment Plant which featured Kalwall’s Vertikal daylighting panels.
