Learn about how the future electric grid depends on secure communications networks in the #SPaRCseries! ⚡️ From describing grid communication requirements to discussing latency, bandwidth, and throughput considerations, the Secure Pathways for Resilient Communications (SPaRC) series of whitepapers explores how secure communications enable the advanced sensing, computing, and control technologies needed for reliable, efficient, and flexible grid operation. The second paper in the series focuses on Quality-of-Service (QoS). The QoS of a communication system is the set of attributes and characteristics that define its overall performance. In previous whitepapers, we described seven common communications systems characteristics including latency, bandwidth, & security. These attributes are critical to the reliability and resiliency of the future electric grid. Read more about the ins-and-outs of QoS in the latest SPaRC whitepaper: https://bit.ly/3XW3Rmu

U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)'s Connected Communities funding program is crucial for a sustainable future. 🍃 With smart controls & sensors, these communities enhance grid efficiency, comfort, and utility savings and optimize energy consumption and reduce carbon emissions. To continue toward our decarbonization goals, OE is contributing funds to a joint DOE funding opportunity of $65M for Connected Communities 2.0, which builds on the first cohort of Connected Communities by adding vehicles, industrial loads, & thermal energy networks as potential grid technical measures. The 2.0 version fosters new technologies to ensure that the grid is flexible, resilient, & sized correctly to accommodate increasing demand from vehicle charging, data centers, and building and industrial electrification. Submit concept papers by Aug. 20 and full applications by Oct. 10. Read more here: https://bit.ly/3LAqCVE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE), U.S. Department of Energy

Does your company have an energy-storage related project that needs more advanced analytics or access to national laboratory capabilities? 🤔💡 Submit your project for consideration to work with a national lab when you attend the in-person ESGC Summit from August 7 - 9. National laboratories will demonstrate their storage acceleration tools and expertise on August 7 for Summit attendees. Attendees will then be able to submit a project they are working on that would benefit from assistance by one of the national lab tools. A committee of DOE and national lab representatives will review the submissions and will select 12 submissions to win one week of time at a national lab and to use its storage acceleration tools.
