We're proud to represent Ohio's 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their 3,700 member hunger relief organizations.

About us

The Ohio Association of Foodbanks is Ohio's largest charitable response to hunger. We represent Ohio's 12 Feeding America foodbanks and their nearly 3,600 member food pantries, soup kitchens, and other hunger relief agencies. Last year, our statewide network acquired and distributed over 270 million pounds of food and grocery items to people in need. We also operate a statewide national service program and a local work experience program, in addition to advocating for public policies that address the root causes of hunger and poverty.

  • What a great day for the Ohio CAN: Local Food Scalability & Sustainability Convening! 🌱 The Ohio Association of Foodbanks joined Ohio Department of Agriculture for this day-long event that brought together farmers, foodbanks, suppliers, aggregators, school systems, community partners and advocates to strengthen Ohio’s food system and champion the LFPA program. We want to thank all of our wonderful speakers who took time to lead their sessions today. We had great break-out sessions on Farm to School programs, business management strategies, championing for LFPA, and community partnerships. We’re especially grateful to the Ohio Department of Agriculture and Ohio Department of Job and Family Services for the collaboration on the Ohio CAN program, and we appreciate everyone who took time out of their day to learn how we can continue to build a stronger local food system together. Thank you all for helping us amplify the voices of our farmers and ensure access to nutritious, local food for all!

This exciting project will not only help meet the immediate needs of our neighbors but will also address the root causes of hunger through wraparound services in Montgomery, Greene, and Preble Counties. We are thrilled to see this big step in creating a stronger, more resilient Ohio! Congrats Dayton! Thanks for having us out! 👏

This session highlighted the next generation of leaders driving innovation in the food and agriculture industries through sustainable solutions and fresh perspectives. Zach Reat, Senior Director of Strategic Initiatives, spoke on the panel Eating Well, Living Well: Food Security and Public Health, where he shared strategies on how ensuring access to nutritious food is key to healthier communities and improved public health outcomes. Today is Hunger Action Day! 🍽️🧡 Hunger Action Day is a time to raise awareness, inspire action, and come together as a community to fight against hunger in Ohio and beyond. Today, many of our staff members joined together to enjoy an orange lunch over conversation on this important day. But why is Hunger Action Day important? 1 in 6 Ohioans are struggling with food insecurity. Hunger affects families, seniors, children, and entire communities, making it a challenge we must face head-on. Rising housing costs and economic pressures mean more households are turning to foodbanks for support with our recent Hunger Study showing these stark realities. Together, we can make sure no one has to choose between paying bills and feeding their family. Today, and every day, we stand with our community, our donors, and our incredible volunteers to support foodbanks and their critical role in ensuring no Ohioan goes hungry. Whether it’s through donations, volunteering, or simply spreading the word, your action makes a difference. Take action now: https://p2a.co/x0DeaHs

Maureen Allen, our director of community services, was invited to travel to the White House today to meet with the CEO of AmeriCorps, Michael Smith on our mission and the people we serve! While she was on Capitol Hill, she also visited some of our congressional offices, Rep. Kaptur and Rep. Joyce to talk with their team about the value of investing in national service. We're proud to be champions of service and will keep advocating for a federal budget that protects and strengthens AmeriCorps'. Learn how you can take action here: https://lnkd.in/gw2YT3dr

Today is #HungerActionDay! One of the greatest actions we can take in the fight to end food insecurity is to vote! Elected positions from city government to the President are on the ballot this year. I am taking #hungeractionmonth to engage candidates in all races and research where they stand on fighting hunger. Whether it is protecting SNAP, implementing S-EBT, supporting local food banks, or investing in other emergency food assistance, there are so many opportunities for elected officials to join the fight to #endhunger. Special shout-out to the Ohio Association of Foodbanks for creating this amazing design! https://lnkd.in/g9F9f5ZR . I'll be rocking this sweatshirt all autumn long :)

  • Leaders from Ohio’s foodbanks stand with Ohio Department of Job and Family Services Director Damschroder and his team after discussing our shared state budget priorities. Director Damschroder holds the Hunger Action Month proclamation from Governor DeWine, marking September as a time for all Ohioans to donate, volunteer, and raise awareness about hunger. We are grateful for our long-standing public-private partnership and look forward to an Executive Budget that reflects the DeWine-Husted Administration’s ongoing commitment to fighting hunger, fostering economic mobility, and strengthening Ohio’s agricultural community. #HungerActionMonth
