Today is a bittersweet day at OIP, as we bid farewell in working for the project to our friend and colleague Jennifer Bergeron. Read the tribute below from OIP co-founder and director Mark Godsey and take five minutes to watch the video tribute from all the clients she has freed, the OIP Fellows she has influenced and friends she has made to get even a small sense of the kind of impact she has made over the last 16 years of what is truly a never-ending battle. Jennifer is transitioning to another role on the University of Cincinnati College of Law faculty, so it's not truly saying goodbye, but no mere post in words could do justice in fully expressing our project's gratitude for everything she has accomplished for us. Thank you, Jennifer! From Mark Godsey: Jennifer Bergeron spent more than 16 years at OIP fighting uphill to free innocent men and women from Ohio's prisons. She was an inspiration to and example for all of us, particularly her students. Today is her last day at OIP, but luckily for our students she is staying at UC Law as a Professor of Practice. We thank Yun-Ching Ko and Pei-Chiung Kao from the Taiwan Innocence Project for joining our class yesterday to discuss the differences and similarities of their work in Taiwan. The legal systems may be different, but the causes of wrongful convictions are universal. Special thanks to Yu-Ting Chen, current UC law student, OIP fellow, and volunteer with the Taiwan Innocence Project, for facilitating the class.

Thank you to the hundreds of supporters who turned out today for OIP's Annual Luncheon at the Duke Energy Convention Center in #Cincinnati. We can't do the work we do -- 42 #wrongfullyconvicted individuals freed and counting over the last 20 years -- without everyone's support. As OIP client Dean Gillispie said in thanking our supporters as the featured speaker on a stage with 20 of our clients surrounding him, "This is what freedom looks like. And unfortunately, freedom isn't free." #Ohio #innocence

The Ohio Innocence Project is discussed in a New York Times feature today that spotlights the opera Blind Injustice, which is being staged this weekend in New Jersey. The opera was commissioned by the Cincinnati Opera and is based on several of OIP's exonerees.

Congrats to those involved on the launch this week of the European Registry of Exonerations. Documented are 116 cases across 17 #countries. #Wrongfulconvictions are not just an American phenomenon, and OIP is committed to raising awareness on this issue internationally. Among the four Americans credited as Professional Collaborators who are supporting this new European effort are two OIP attorneys, Mark Godsey and Jennifer Bergeron.
