Yesterday we celebrated International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer. It's an annual day to raise awareness about the importance of protecting our planet's ozone layer 🌏. Did you know that food waste is a major contributor to methane emissions, a potent greenhouse gas that damages the ozone layer? WRAP, a UK-based charity focused on resource efficiency and waste reduction, estimates that the greenhouse gas emissions associated with wasted food and drink in the UK accounted for approximately 18 million tonnes of CO2 equivalent in 2021/22. WRAP has estimated that the food waste in the UK is equivalent to 6.4 million cars driving 10,000 miles per year 🤯.
