Olmsted County is the seventh largest county in the state of Minnesota with eight cities (Rochester being the largest), 18 townships, and approximately 163,440 residents. The county is governed by seven individuals elected to serve on the Olmsted County Board of Commissioners, and county services are supported by approximately 1,300 Olmsted County government employees working to build a sustainable foundation for a safe, healthy, and welcoming community through public service excellence.

    Today, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., staff from Olmsted County Health, Housing, and Human Services will be attending a development event. The following departments will be unavailable during this time: -Adult & Family Services -Child & Family Services -Dodge & Olmsted Community Corrections -Family Support & Assistance -Housing -Public Health Services -Veteran Services The 2100 and 2117 Government Campus buildings will be closed, as well as D&O Community Corrections and Victim Services at the Government Center.     With Halloween approaching, here is a great tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children: Check first: Plan out your trick-or-treat route ahead of time! Stick to familiar, well-lit neighborhoods where the spookiest thing is the decorations – not the path! Pro tip: Try adding reflective tape to costumes or candy bags for a little extra glow-in-the-dark magic.

    Today is Prescription Drug Take Back Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Drop off site: Mayo Family Clinic Northeast - 3041 Stonehedge Dr. NE in Rochester. Acceptable prescriptions include: • Capsules • Creams • Ointments • Patches • Pills • Vials Liquids must be in their original container. Pet medications are accepted. Vape pens are accepted with the batteries removed. Other e-cigarette devices are also accepted, with the batteries removed.
