Uncontrolled bleeding is the most common cause of preventable death in trauma. As the region's only Level I trauma center, Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center is dedicated to training local school staff and our community on what to do in the case of a bleeding emergency through Stop the Bleed. Since 2022, the trauma team has trained 2,766 people in the Baton Rouge community and 2,038 of those trained are affiliated with a school in East Baton Rouge Parish or surrounding parishes.
