About us
We support digital learning in two key areas: 1) The Olus Learning Portal supports development of core digital skills in primary and secondary schools 2) Advanced digital learning and computer science skills at home (extracurricular) The Olus Learning Portal is a student-led learning tool that enables schools to excel with digital learning. An essential part of the success of the Olus Learning Portal in schools across the UK and Ireland, is that it also supports teacher training and professional development for digital learning at the same time. Enabling teachers in a unique manner such as this, addresses critical global problems facing successful implementation of digital learning environments in primary and secondary schools, including: the vast majority of teachers lack sufficient digital learning training, and the various challenges facing schools in providing traditional training to build teacher expertise in the area. With the Olus Learning Portal, students from age 7 upwards can immediately learn digital literacy, I.T., coding and online safety/wellbeing skills. As a Google professional development partner, all of our Google Workspace content on the Olus Learning Portal is aligned to Google's 'Certified Educator' programmes, supporting seamless certification for teachers in a student-led environment. Olus is also a Canva for Education partner, the only Irish partner and one of five across the UK and Ireland. Our focus in schools though is to support device and software agnostic learning environments, so our programmes focus on all device types and the core software (e.g. iPad apps) that works best for learning with the school's preferred device type. Online safety week is a great week to finish the first half term of the year. Many of our schools have been in touch to let us know how helpful our student support for Google's Be Internet Legends course was for them. Every student in Corracrinn National School has done 6 lessons from Be Internet Legends this year and been able to access the relevant areas of Interland directly from their personal Olus portal. It's often little things like this that helps us make the difference because it's all too often the little things that stop the big things from happening. 🖥️ >> Hear from the staff and students at the school>> https://lnkd.in/eAdjKbUP Our friends at Barnardos were extremely busy helping schools all over the country too, we're looking forward to helping them with their exciting new plans - watch this space! For teachers, the power of learning alongside students can be transformative. Learning in this way can replace ineffective, stressful CPD, give time back to teachers, and give students ownership of their own learning! This podcast with our partners at XMA looks at more effective ways of supporting schools, teachers and students. Michael Conlon Frazer Williams

We are delighted to announce that Olus is now formally an education training partner for Canva. Canva is an incredibly exciting tool that is already transforming learning in teaching in classrooms around the world, and this is just the start. We are incredibly proud to be the only Irish training partner for Canva and one of just three partners across Ireland and the UK. We'll be training schools from Glasgow to Galway, from London to Liverpool, and from Bangor (Wales) to Bangor (Northern Ireland). To kick things off, our Head of Learning Solutions Gavin Molloy will be travelling to Cork tomorrow to present to a group of 60 schools on the benefits of Canva. Great podcast from our partners at XMA. This is the first in their new series of podcasts. The next one will be in partnership with Book Creator (Tools for Schools) and then the fourth one (which we're obviously even more excited about!) is in partnership with Olus and features Frazer Williams discussing the benefits of child-centred learning and the power of enabling teachers to upskill in their own time or learn alongside the students.
Change is hard, and Jennifer from our Digital Learning Team has reflected on her years of working with teachers and leaders around introducing technology into classrooms. Our Best in Class podcast from XMA demonstrates how that can be made much easier when you have a guiding hand who understands teachers and learners and can build a professional learning pathway that moves everyone forward. Join us on our Best in Class podcast each week, where we'll closely examine those apps, people and pedagogy that are making a difference in the classroom. If you're anywhere in the Cork area or commuting distance of CBC Cork, this is a not-to-be-missed event. We're delighted that our very own Gavin Molloy is going to be presenting about Canva tools. We're particularly excited that this because this is our first formal session as the only Irish training partner for Canva Thanks to Patrick Hickey for the invite and for organizing.
