🎗️The Second Global OncoThon: A Day of Unity and Action for Pediatric Cancer OncoDaily, in partnership with the International Society of Paediatric Oncology - SIOP , is excited to announce the Second Global OncoThon, a 24-hour virtual event aimed at raising essential funds and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Set for February 15, 2025, to coincide with Childhood Cancer Awareness Day, this global initiative will unite people and organizations worldwide with a common goal: ensuring a future free of cancer for every child.🎗️ Despite being one of the leading causes of disease-related death in children, childhood cancer receives significantly less research funding than adult cancers. With nearly half a million new diagnoses every year, pediatric cancer is often classified as a “rare disease,” limiting the resources allocated to it. While over 200 drugs are available for adult cancers, fewer than 30 have been developed specifically for children, illustrating the critical gap in treatment options. This funding shortage hampers innovation, delaying the development of life-saving treatments and leaving children worldwide without the advancements they desperately need. The Second Global OncoThon focuses not on statistics but on real, human stories – the child with hopes of a future, the parent committed to never giving up, and the global community that can make a tangible difference. This event will be a day of connection, compassion, and action, uniting us to declare that no child should ever face cancer alone.
