I went down memory lane this weekend ✨😇 Then I realized how much I've been blessed 😊 Guess who I met on my mission 15 years ago! 🤔 Guess who became my employer and founder of a nonprofit company 15 years later! 💪🏼 Read this beautiful story 👇🏼 And be inspired 💯😊 On the 2nd day of October, in the year 2009, I embarked on one of the most beautiful journeys in my life. Going on a full time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, to serve among the beautiful people of Ghana 🇬🇭 in the Ghana Cape Coast Mission 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼 Amongst other valiant young men and women in my mission was one Ivorian missionary with the most humble countenance you could ever imagine. He was very knowledgeable and seemed like he had eaten the scriptures before coming on his mission 🤔 He served us as a zone leader. He and his companion led mission goals, tasks and projects like a captain who completely understood the language of the waves. We arrived at every destination and accomplished milestones together as a zone, no one was left out💪🏼. I got transferred from Cape Coast to Kumasi after 10 months 😊. But I had already made a friend and brother in Elder Stéphane Akoki After my mission in 2011, I returned home with memories of all the amazing brothers and sisters I had served with. Thank God for social media 😂 many of us connected again after our mission and Stephane was one of them, he had moved to the US. Fast-forward in July 2023, I resigned from my teaching job due to health issues. Then I felt a strong prompting to ask Stephane to help me find a remote job because I still needed to earn some money to be able to take care of my two sons. Then I got the shocker of my life. He, was the founder of a nonprofit organization empowering young talented Ivorians with virtual jobs and education 😯💪🏼 He asked to know what skills I had, then proceeded to table my case to members of the company's board Christopher Borden and 🎼Harmonie Borden🌺 and gratefully they accepted me to join the training that September as the first Nigerian in Elevate Côte d'Ivoire. What baffles me is the joy he has to serve his people. In the photo at the bottom right, Stephane recently went home to Cote D'Ivoire for the second time this year to execute some community projects, and one of the highlights of this particular trip, was cleaning up the entire SOS Children Village, an orphanage in Abobo-Gare with over 30+ volunteers who showed up to support the project. He is still serving 💪🏼 What have I learned from this experience? 1. Networking is an incredible form of marketing and connection 2. When you're in the service of the Lord serve with all your heart 3. Do not ignore the warm feeling of seeking help from the people that come to your mind. 4. Seek learning and wait for the opportunities. ✨ Incredible Transformation in Just One Year! ✨ I called it A September To Remember!😍 Four years ago, I lost my confidence after moving into a home with a leaking roof 💔. The landlord was down with stroke then and tricked me into fixing it, promising to deduct the cost from my next rent. But when the carpenter climbed the roof to start repairs, he noticed all the woods were soft and rotten. Before he could make any further step, the roof came crashing down, injuring the carpenter, his workman and leaving me accused of bringing a novice to destroy his house. I ended up spending triple the rent just to fix it. 😔 With my savings gone, I had to take a loan from the kind-hearted Proprietress of CITA International School where I worked at the time🙏. And for the next four years, I kept fixing that roof, feeling ashamed and saddened. 💔 But EVERYTHING changed within one year of working with Elevate Cote D’Ivoire! 🌟 This September, I made a vow to give my kids the home they deserve, and thanks to God, it happened! 🙌 September is now one of my favorite months! 🗓️ I’ve been part of Elevate Côte d'Ivoire since September 2023, and it has truly been a life saver working with this amazing team. Keep Your Hopes Alive 🌟 One year ago today, I took a bold step into the unknown as I joined Elevate Cote D'Ivoire, a nonprofit that is doing something truly revolutionary, creating wealth through sustainable employment and education for talented Ivorians and Africans. I am proud to say I was privileged to be the first Nigerian in Nigeria to be recruited into this incredible company after completing an intensive three-month training program with the best trainers I could ever imagine. This was at a time when I was experiencing my toughest moments 😔 The transformation was unbelievable! Before the training, I thought I was operating at 20% capacity, but by the end, I soared to 99% and I’m not even exaggerating. 😄 I was equipped with skills, confidence, and a mindset that elevated me not only in my career but also in how I viewed myself. At Elevate Cote D'Ivoire, I discovered something beautiful: a mission that goes beyond simply providing jobs. They are empowering individuals, like myself, with sustainable futures, creating ripple effects in families and communities. This journey has been nothing short of amazing. As I celebrate my one-year with Elevate Côte d'Ivoire, I can’t wait to share more insights, milestones, and stories from my incredible experience.
