🏖🌞 Upskilling and reskilling...on a Greek island?! 🏖🌞 The Greek Tourism Ministry announced that it will invest up to $45M euros in an upskilling and reskilling program for up to 20K participants in the Greek tourism industry. The program will be delivered through a digital portal as the industry works to modernize and digitize across the spectrum. The Greek National Tourism Organization, which seeks to promote unique types of tourism, is itself in the process of undergoing a digital transformation and updated marketing strategy (practicing what they preach -- we love it! 💙 ) Key focuses of the upskilling and reskilling program: -- Diversify beyond Greece's "sun and beach" model to attract visitors for lesser-known attractions such as mountains, spas, and winter-season tourism -- Build up experiential tourism in gastronomy, wine tourism, and agritourism -- Attract more investors to the Greek tourism industry -- Become a leader in sustainable tourism We love to see government actors taking upskilling and reskilling seriously to transform entire sectors of the economy. It's what's needed to prepare the workforce for a rapidly changing world. The goal of serving 20,000 professionals out-of-the-gate is impressive scale. Well done, Greek Tourism Ministry! #upskilling #reskilling #HRtech #lifelonglearning #continuouseducation #futureofwork https://lnkd.in/gwRCzYp2

🔊🔊 "I think it’s partly the recognition that people get for continuously learning and making sure that becomes the part of the culture, that the leaders are continuously learning, that they expecting that of their workforce, and that they are providing the resources."🔊🔊 LOVE this quote from Betty Thompson, Chief People Officer at Booz Allen Hamilton and Board Chair of SHRM. The remark came in response to the following question posed in a in Business World interview: "What’s your advice to HR leaders for integrating lifelong learning into company culture?" Thompson continued: "One of the things that the organisations need to look at is what training they are paying for, what are they providing, not just for their own resources but what are they connecting their employees to on the outside that’s available to them and how can they support them as they try to pursue those ways of requiring skills." We like that she hit on the need for both high-quality internal corporate training, as well as robust connections to external upskilling resources (perhaps through an upskilling marketplace like OneRange?!) #upskilling #reskilling #lifelonglearning #continuouseducation #alwaysbelearning #HR #SHRM Read the full interview: https://lnkd.in/d9c4HfhT

⌛🕓 In solidarity with Cal Newport, Aytekin Tank, and slow productivity ⌛🕓 In theory, technology should give us more time to focus on the things that matter. But often, tech like email and messaging seems to just create more distractions and busywork that keeps us from the most important activities. Writing in Fast Company, CEO of Jotform and author of Automate Your Busywork Aytekin Tank asserts that "busywork and 'pseudo-productivity' are the antithesis of meaningful achievement" that "creates a more chaotic energy that exhausts our fuel and leaves us running on fumes." Liked famed author and computer scientist Cal Newport, he's an advocate for slow productivity, which entails doing fewer things, working at a more natural pace, and obsessing over quality, and believes that automating routine, mindless tasks could be the key to unlocking this deeper form of work. This resonates really strongly with us. We created OneRange in part based on the insight that companies and individuals were spending enormous amounts of time on the administration of upskilling -- i.e., finding quality resources, requesting approvals, and managing expense reimbursements and budgets -- which hindered their ability to engage in the most meaningful upskilling activities. As we evolve the platform, we continually integrate new automation features that make it faster to get to the learning, such as one-click recurring subscriptions and automated skills tagging based on content meta descriptions. So here's to automation enabling slow productivity and more meaningful upskilling. Want to build your automation and productivity skills? Check out these resources on the OneRange platform: -- Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment without Burnout (Amazon Books) -- Learning Task Automation Using Windows Powershell (Udemy course) -- Beginners Excel VBA and Excel Macros (Udemy course) #upskilling #slowproductivity #automation #futureoflearning https://lnkd.in/e5V5r8Bg

📚💻 Virtual intelligence: A new form of intelligence that employees must master for 2025 and beyond 📚💻 We all know the "intelligence quotient," (IQ), and most would agree that "emotional intelligence" (EQ) has become firmly ensconced in the corporate lexicon. In the shift to remote and hybrid work since the 2020 pandemic, many are now calling for a new "remote readiness" quotient to assess how prepared individuals are to operate in the new landscape of work. WHY IT MATTERS: -- 67.8% of tech industry employees globally were fully or mostly remote in 2023 -- We've all seen these scenarios play out: E.g., a white shoe law firm that lays off an associate with an excellent legal mind who didn't know the etiquette for projecting professionalism in remote meetings with new clients WHAT EXPERTS ARE DOING: -- HR experts Localized recently partnered with ETS to launch ETS Anywherepro, a remote-ready assessment for digital workers.  Based on conversations with 100s of employers over the last year, this assessment is one method to help badge those with the virtual intelligence to work with hybrid and distributed teams. OUR TAKE -- We love the focus on "remote readiness" as an aptitude that employees need to master. But it's critical to provide employees with upskilling resources to build these skills and not just hope they develop them through osmosis. We have a number of books and resources on the OneRange platform specifically designed to help individuals build these specific skills: BOOKS -- “How to Thrive in the Virtual Workplace” (Robert Glazer) -- “Remote Not Distant” (Gustavo Razzetti) -- “Leading from Anywhere” (David Burkus) -- “Remote Work Revolution” (Tsedal Neeley) COURSES -- How to manage a remote team (Gitlab via Coursera) -- Working from home effectively (Chris Croft via Udemy) #futureofwork #remotereadiness #HR #HRtech #hybridwork #remotework #upskilling #continuouseducation #alwaysbelearning #professionaldevelopment https://lnkd.in/eYFXR8km

🐨🌟 Workforce trends for the (near) future: Australian edition 🐨🌟 It's always fun to check out thought leadership from across the globe and compare it to our own experience here in the U.S. The top 3 workforce trends to watch in 2025, according to Aussie publication @Smart Company, are: 1) AI integration in recruiting 2) Skills-based hiring (Is this the 3rd time we've written about this in a week?!) 3) Focus on Learning and Development (L&D) Also in their top 7 for 2025 is a "focus on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion" in hiring, a trend that has been controversial in the U.S. over the past year. Some in America have declared DEI dead, and almost all would agree that DEI initiatives have become more complex and nuanced following the peak of the creation of DEI offices and leadership roles in the wake of the 2020 George Floyd crisis. What's your take? Does the Smart Company list jive with your experience elsewhere in the world? What would be on your list of top trends for 2025? https://lnkd.in/gHBe7hTS

📘💡 The Skills-Powered Organization: The Journey to the Next Generation Enterprise 📘💡We continue to be intrigued by this concept of skills, not job titles and roles, shaping the future of work. In their new book "The Skills-Powered Organization," Ravin Jesuthasan, CFA, FRSA and Tanuj Kapilashrami discuss the value of continuous learning over a college degree and how leaders can encourage upskilling and reskilling. They also provide practical strategies for individuals to thrive in a skills-powered world, while helping organizations contend with the following critical questions: -- What data do you need to make skills the currency of work? -- How can organizations reshape talent management for an uncertain future? -- Why are organizations increasingly making work design a core capability? -- How can you structure and orchestrate an enterprise built on skills? Give it a read and let us know what you think! https://lnkd.in/epQvwrft #futureofwork #upskilling #HRtech #reskilling #lifelonglearning #alwaysbelearning #professionaldevelopment #HR

🍎📚 What AI can teach us about meaningful learning 🍎📚 When the first public GenAI tools launched, every teacher on the planet probably lost a night of sleep (or several) worrying that students would never write an original essay again. Since then, many have advocated for the benefits of GenAI in education to enhance learning. A recent article by Nirit Cohen in Forbes makes this case. She writes: "If a task can be fully completed by AI, it likely isn’t challenging enough to foster deep learning. Educators should create assignments that require human input—whether through critical analysis, creativity, or ethical reasoning—so AI serves as a tool for learning, not a replacement for intellectual effort." Just as the internet led to a decreased emphasis on memorizing facts and the calculator shifted the focus from mechanics to theory and application, GenAI has the potential to enable more critical thinking and problem solving -- if teachers can get the upskilling they need to use it effectively. Harvard has some great recommendations for teachers looking to get started using GenAI in the classroom: https://lnkd.in/e7zz7spY What has been your experience with GenAI in schools? Do you think it's a net positive or net negative? Do you think the lessons from schools apply to the workplace, or do businesses face fundamentally different challenges when integrating GenAI? https://lnkd.in/eaJM5zrP #GenAI #futureofwork #futureoflearning #upskilling #continuouseducation #professionaldevelopment #AIinSchools

🔥🔥 Happy to announce another exciting product feature release: recurring subscriptions! 🔥🔥 By popular demand from our users, it’s now easier to request a resource on the OneRange marketplace monthly or annually. People often think of upskilling as one-and-done: take the course, read the book, and move on to the next learning activity. But many of our clients use OneRange for subscriptions to apps such as Duolingo Super, publications such as the The Economist, and tools including ChatGPT and Claude AI. Let us know what you think of this feature! Does your company offer subscriptions as part of your upskilling program? #upskilling #GenAI #futureoflearning #HRtech #lifelonglearning #continuouseducation #professionaldevelopment

💻💡 Salesforce responds to 7X increase in AI urgency with new upskilling initiative. 💻💡 The company hopes to add 100K new learners to the 2.6M AI and data badges already earned on its Trailhead online learning platform. Why now? -  According to research from Slack (a Salesforce product) , executive urgency to incorporate AI into business operations has increased 7x over just the past 6 months - Still, a majority (2/3) of workers have yet to use AI at work - Only 15% of employees feel they have the education and training necessary to leverage AI effectively After opening its first AI Center in London in June, Salesforce will also launch a pop-up AI Center in San Francisco in 2025, with plans for additional training centers in cities such as Chicago, Tokyo, and Sydney. The move will enable it to create a robust ecosystem of online and in-person AI learning, research, and collaboration opportunities. The race to upskill for AI careers continues at break-neck pace! How effective have you found the training to be? https://lnkd.in/eYsm6uMN #upskilling #AI #GenAI #Salesforce #Trailhead #futureofwork #continuouseducation #professionaldevelopment #lifelonglearning #alwaysbelearning
