Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon and the OCIDA team attended #SEMICONJapan! The week began with a Semiconductor Reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy at the Ambassador’s residence. Onondaga County joined representatives from New York, Arizona, Virginia, and Oregon for conversation regarding the growing U.S. semiconductor ecosystem with supply chain companies.   Onondaga County had an insightful meeting with the Japan External Trade Organization's leadership to discuss business opportunities for Japanese companies interested in expanding in our community. At SEMICON Japan, County Executive McMahon gave two presentations on opportunities to coinvest with Micron. Throughout the week the team met with numerous supply chain companies and had meaningful conversations about co-locating here. These are exciting times for Central New York! OCIDA was honored to welcome representatives from JETRO USA for a visit aimed at deepening their understanding of our region’s economic landscape. This visit marks an important step in strengthening our international partnerships, particularly as we work to support Micron Technology’s New York project and welcome Japanese companies to our community. Together, we are fostering a growing semiconductor industry in Onondaga County. A special thanks to County Executive Ryan McMahon for his leadership in hosting JETRO and highlighting Onondaga County’s potential, as well as our local, state, and federal partners for their active participation in these important discussions. Today, TTM Technologies, a global leader in advanced technology solutions—including cutting-edge printed circuit boards, radio frequency components, and mission-critical systems for aerospace and defense—celebrated its expansion with a special beam signing ceremony. This beam will serve as a lasting symbol of the innovation taking place right here in Onondaga County. This isn't just a win for Central New York—the technologies manufactured in our own back yard will serve the rest of the world. This expansion enhances our region's growing success and further establishes Onondaga County as a center for advanced manufacturing and opportunity. County Executive Ryan McMahon and the OCIDA team were excited to take part in the ribbon cutting of Bluefors new state-of-the-art expansion in Onondaga County! This project is a significant milestone that epitomizes our region’s growing reputation as a leader in advanced manufacturing and technology. This expansion not only brings cutting-edge cryogenics technology but also high-quality job opportunities, enhancing the growth of our local economy. Bluefors’ growth is a testament to the collaborative spirit and commitment to innovation that defines our county. Congratulations to Bluefors and all the local, state, and federal partners who worked to make this project happen! We look forward to the continued positive impact this will bring to our community and beyond. 

This past June, OCIDA had the pleasure of hosting a delegation from Taiwan made up of semiconductor supply chain professionals and university leaders, led by the American Institute in Taiwan. Their time in Onondaga County focused on exploring supply chain collaborations and economic development opportunities as they relate to Micron Technology’s New York project. Their visit was both productive and memorable!
