We believe strategic planning is more than simply achieving business goals. It creates confidence in the future.

About us

As real-world, field-driven practitioners of corporate strategy we’ve learned great strategy isn’t just about having a strategic plan. It’s about building confidence and allowing leaders to lead with that confidence by having a vision and a roadmap for getting there. It’s the kind of confidence that cascades from leadership to the front-line. Teams know where they’re going and why. Individuals contribute with purpose and meaning. Our mission is to transform organizations by transforming the lives of people within them. When people have purpose and meaning in their work they’re better employees. Better employees create a better work environment, which in turn creates happier customers. And happy customers become loyal customers. As a result, loyal customers drive growth, profitability, and longevity that impact the financial future of employees and businesses, as well as the communities they serve. This is why we exist. What makes us different? We’re not just a strategic services firm. We’re not just a software company. We’re both. And success in strategy requires both having the right people on your team and the software to execute your strategic plan. Wherever you’re at in the process we’ll meet you there. We’ll carry forward what’s working, solve for what isn’t, build a strategy together, and help you manage it with your team. As a strategy process leader and management partner, we believe strategy is more than simply achieving business goals. Smarter strategy builds smarter organizations. It inspires people to work hard, incite action and make things happen. Simply architected, thoughtfully executed, strategy moves mountains. Whether you’re just getting started, rolling out an organizational strategy, or managing execution, OnStrategy delivers the right tools and services to get the job done. More from our fearless leader Erica Olsen.

We just came off an AMAZING weekend at United States Conference of Mayors where I had the privilege of sharing Madison AI with mayors and government leaders across the nation. It was SO, SO exciting to share how Madison AI (www.MadisonAI.com) will help governments write error-checked and cited staff reports in 4 minutes (instead of 6 hours!) Here's a clip from our time on the stage! Thank you, Mayor Hillary Schieve, Mayor Suarez, and Mayor Harrell, for having us. Not onstage, but a major thank you to our amazing team at OnStrategy, Ashley D. Turney, Dave Solaro, P.E., RA, Carter Williams, AICP. This rockstar team is making it happen in Northern Nevada!

AI has really changed the entire way we work as organizations. As leaders, now is the moment we must embrace AI to help us create our future. We're not taking it lightly! The team at OnStrategy has been hard at work developing a new AI tool in partnership with Washoe County [specifically our partner in crime, Dave Solaro, P.E., RA] for regional governments to realize the efficiency gains AI has promised to serve our community better and more efficiently. I'm so happy to introduce Madison AI [www.madisonAI.com] to the world. Madison is an AI Assistant for regional and local governments to research previous board action, analyze issues, and draft staff reports. Think ChatGPT using your government’s data in your Microsoft ecosystem. Read about it in this feature from Route Fifty. Thank you for the feature Chris Teale. I'll be on the stage tomorrow morning at the United States Conference of Mayors with Hillary Schieve to share Madison AI and its impact in the City of Reno. [PS—it helped them save 75% of their staff time preparing staff reports!] Thank you, thank you, and thank you to our team at OnStrategy and the Washoe County Team for developing at lightning speed. The best is yet to come! Cheers!

A few weeks ago, we hosted a Master class AI strategy and disruptive technology. What is disruptive technology, you may ask? It's an innovation or technology that significantly shifts or alters how consumers, businesses, or industries operate. AI has undoubtedly taken the world by storm. If you're worried about how AI technology may potentially disrupt your industry (for better or worse), here are 3 tips for maintaining perspective in the face these huge changes: —Diversify, and don’t try to time the market. There isn’t a way to know how rapidly or slowly tech will change, and the best you can do is invest in a way that makes sense for your business or organization. —Don't change who you are. Change how you think. Look at Kodak as an example. The advent of digital photography shook up the traditional film camera industry. But Kodak decided to change with the times. They are no longer a company that merely sells film and film cameras. With the adoption of digital photography and equipment, the company has shifted. They market themselves now as a company that helps capture and celebrate memories, in any form that takes place today and in the future. —Don't abandon business fundamentals. Technology may change and transition, but the tried and tested business principles endure. Regardless of what technology you adopt, always stay grounded in the fundamentals. Read our blog for more tips on how your organization can adapt and thrive in the face of AI and other technological changes! Click the link to learn more! https://lnkd.in/gQb9Cfa9

How can you use purposeful communication for strategy rollout? Implementing a strategy often requires effective communication that resonates with all members of an organization. While the process can be intricate, using purposeful communication can ensure everyone is on the same page, driving alignment and commitment to the strategic vision. There are several ways to ensure that purposeful communication is the heartbeat of your strategy rollout. Let's explore some best practices discussed in our Strategy Collaborative session: Make your strategy a story Use visual communication methods such as balanced scorecards or visual KPIs that connect to the core of your strategy. Utilize interaction session that ensure your strategy is both seen and heard. Find ways to connect your strategy with the people most impacted by it so that they can see their role in the plan and why it matters. Lean away from hierarchical structures When communicating your strategy with your organization, utilize cross-functional team or create a collaborative group made up of staff and peers. This allows the team an opportunity to foster ownership and shared responsibility. The communication of strategy is ongoing Communicating your strategy is not a singular event or campaign to announce and then abandon. It is an ongoing action that should be built into the DNA of your strategy. Do you have any other ideas on communicating your strategy in a way that is effective and purposeful?
